Chilao Campground

I love taking my family every year for memorial day. The scenery is breath taking higher up. $12 bucks a day. I always take my propane stove,tents,shade, hammock, dried ice from smart n final to last 3 days. N 2 5gallons of water because sometime snow breaks the pipes n theres no water running. Also if u have a wireless chain saw take it theres always wood to cut. Enjoy your stay :)

Vault toilets, running water (non-potable) sometimes, first come first serve. No cell service, nowhere to buy water, gas, or firewood (collect onsite) for an hour in any direction, so plan accordingly! No bear boxes provided, but bear-proof dumpsters since they do frequent the area, so be prepared to store food. Nearby Chilao visitor center is a nice stop on weekends, and Newcombs Ranch is a great stop for a hot meal.

Great place to escape from LA city life for a day or two. Enjoyed cold October nights in those mountains. Beautiful views, hiking around. There are some very private camping spots with spectacular views. Camping area was clean. Neighbors were friendly. Wonderful location to make BBQ.

Some of these sites do not have shade all day so get there early to get a good site. Its a close drive from LA so its a good weekend spot. Vault toilets and water spouts are available. Some seasons you have to bring your own water though.

Nice campground! Has vault toilets. Water. Lots of shade. Will return again. If you want more pines try the other campground. Prices start at $12/night.
