“I am new here and it is my first time going to this church. I am absolutely happy about this experience! I am Chinese and in the last year I was at Ashland University studying. Ashland is a very small quiet and peaceful town where people are extremely friendly. During that year I made wonderful friends with both Chinese and Americans. This gave me motivation to come to California to seek a new experience. I just assumed that Americans are all that way. However, after being here for half a month, most of the time I feel West Covina or California is a different America. People are more business like than genuine friendly. I understand that compared with Ashland, Ohio, this is a bigger city and people come from everywhere so it is difficult for people to trust each other. Still, I felt sad and homesick. I came here to communicate with people but I couldn't find the door to it. I searched the nearby church and asked Uber driver about it. They told me that this is a multicultural church which appeals to me very much! This morning I went there. The people at the reception were very nice. (One of them is Reena?) When they knew that it was my first time, they gave me a cute cup as a gift and they also gave various pamphlets. Then the service began. I like their service. They prayed for people suffering and also for missionary people. The sermon was that God's mercy is greater than his justice. My understanding is that love and compassion goes above justice. After the sermon, there is fellowship over light lunch provided by people in the church. All in all, I have met loving and caring people here. And it makes me feel connected to this place. And it gives me strength and energy to go on with my dream! Thank you, God!!!”
