Beautiful park with both easy to challenging trails. There are a lot of off leash but friendly dogs here, so please remember that if you bring one of your own. It’s basically dog heaven, and usually everyone is very responsible about their dogs.

Three uphill miles from the Orinda BART station, the park features deep ravines, very tall third-grown redwoods, views of San Francisco Bay and even Marin (with no fog). Many cycling routes. Useful maps at the park entrance. When I was there, mid December? Ladybugs were swarming in some places. Much less crowded, when I was there than Mt Tam.

We love this nature area. Gorgeous. Lots of lovely trails & so close to town. Pretty "busy" in some areas on the nice weekend days, but still easy to find remote areas.

The hikes are a nice pace and some areas are a good incline challenge for working the glutes and thighs. There is a nice picnic area near the archery range and a good stop for watering yourself and your dog(s). Peaceful and friendly hikers. Beautiful views. Pack your trash out.

My favorite redwoods to visit in the San Francisco Bay Area so far. I've been to most of all the well known redwood groves and the trees at Redwoods Regional Park, although significantly smaller and less dense, will not disappoint. I think the idea that metropolitan areas are less than 20 minutes away is amazing and truly emphasize how important and possible it is to conserve the natural beauty around us. You can find wide and level trails as well as those more challenging, truly great for the family! I highly recommend it!
