I’ve been to this one twice now and the other in Long Beach a few times and I’ve always had a decent experience.
This last time was only a little too much because of the hash browns. See pictures.
Hands down, the nastiest hash browns I have ever had. I asked for extra crispy, so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I don’t think so because it wasn’t burnt. It had a very weird taste to it.
But besides that, everything else was fantastic. The Huckleberry Shake and Berry Lemonade were both terrific as was the food. My brother’s plate, the stuffed French toast and sausage was bomb.
My steak and eggs and grits were good too.
My pictures do the place no justice. The restaurant is a decent size decorated so uniquely with wood and bears cabin feel. They have baby clothes for sale upon entering the restaurant and other items to the right next to the music box. Didn't look right. You also see cake slices and mini pies for sale. I bought the chocolate pie. Still gotta try it. The employees are really nice, welcoming, professional, and accommodating. It gets really busy. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Waited maybe 20 minutes for our food. Both waiting times were average for an establishment like this. The prices are a bit higher compared to other surrounding restaurants/diners. But the food is so worth it! Portions are decent and the food is tasty. Even my Arnold Palmer tasted way better here than other restaurants. The menu is a bit overwhelming because it's like a newspaper. It has a bunch of other information that has nothing to do with the food menu. All the writing blends in no color or pictures. They use a symbol next to bigger food items if you are really hungry. I believe they have vegetarian options too and a kids menu. There is a restroom in the restaurant. The place was kept clean. Definitely recommend and definitely am returning. You might not have good luck with parking because it is small.
Decided to eat here for lunch we haven't been here since precovid. It was not busy at all at 2 o'clock in the afternoon so it was nice and we got seated right away. I ordered the country fried steak breakfast with over easy eggs a biscuit and grits. Pretty standard flavor it's very hard to mess up a countryfights steak and this one was good and juicy. I added extra gravy online also so that I could have some with my biscuit. I put my eggs on my grits added a pot of butter and some pepper and that was surprisingly a very good side dish. The wife ordered the chicken club she wanted the turkey sandwich but they were out. The portions are huge and she was only able to finish a quarter of sandwich because of the salad. Besides salad was super fresh and a big portion we always order blue cheese and Italian dressing with our salads and it tasted very good. The 5 year old ordered the many corn dogs I had to try one myself they weren't over salty and actually actually tasted really good for a kid's meal and the fruit didn't taste like it was sitting there all day and was cut at 8:00 in the morning. We actually had a very good meal here and we will definitely be back.
Great food, service was outstanding. The parking is small for it. Had a hard time finding a parking space for a Saturday morning it was expected. I had the hobo omelet with fresh fruit and toast. I got full really fast they packed with good serving of meats. I liked the atmosphere and the theme of the bears throughout the place.
A bit pricey. Overall great food and love to eat here with my younger brothers. The servers could be a bit more polite in my opinion.(I worked in the food industry for a while.) It is a great family place to eat.
