  Very clean and comfortable campsite. Sites don’t feel too close together and it’s very close to the palm canyon hiking trail. Lots of huge hills to climb nearby too. Try to come here during the spring or fall. The bathroom and showers are always clean when I’ve camped here. Its also within a very close distance to the town nearby. Great site to stay at for a desert hiking/rock climbing weekend.

  Spring 2023. Due to abundant rain, our desert is blooming. So pretty! $10 parking. Make sure you bring some cash to pay for parking.

  We camped in the this park for one night, it was very windy when we arrived in the afternoon, but calmed at night. We were embraced by the San Ysidro mountains on the back and facing the Santa Rosa Mountains in the distance. The setting is so unique. At night, it was warm, a few pieces of clouds were moving on top of our head, my family were enjoying the moment around the campfire, it was one of the best moments of our family vacation!

  We hiked the Slot - 2.3 Miles moderate trail. Amazing views of the canyon. There’s a $10 fee that you can pay via the Yodel app. There’s a section of steep incline other than that the trail is pretty much level except for the slot where you have to scramble some portions of the trail. It narrows down the middle but you can squeeze easily.

  One of the best California state parks. If you like desert flora and blooming you must see it. Very easy access by car. Best time for visit is autumn or spring. There is some limitations during summer due to extreme heat. This year desert blooming started very early - in December!
