“Awesome building staff and great services offered! I was so pleasantly surprised by walking into this beautiful building on 101 Grove street in Civic Center Area. It’s on the corner of Grove and Polk street. The nice woman and man to the left in room 100 were soo sweet to offer me a mask and take the time out of their work to get me a mask from the closet just minutes before closing. I had to get some documents from window 5 and all the staff at this window were amazing as well. Thank You to the Staff whom helped me I don’t remember the first woman’s name but I did remember Susanna who was soo pleasant and helpful and David whom was patient and kind to wait for me as I was there last minute both times I had to pick up and drop off paperwork. Besides some of the 1235 Mission Employees, these are the best government employees I’ve ever dealt with. They were professional, competent and took the time to help me fill out a form that I wasn’t sure how to fill out and told me what I needed to do to get a certain document I needed for my health. They also have a window for getting ones birth certificates and all sorts of good info! I also found it great how clean and gorgeous the building was including the bathroom. I very much appreciated the whole experience I had at 101 Grove Street and recommend going in and getting help at the San Francisco office of Vital Records building. They even have a federal MMJ card to help people pay for their medicinal products once they get the card. I believe it qualifies people for the compassion program so people can get free and/or discounted meds! This is the only way to do it legally and it’s federal too. Takes the worry away for me about being a patient with certain medical needs. Now I feel completely legal and more comfortable purchasing what I need for my PTSD. Thanks again to all the workers. Special shout out to Room 101(thanks for getting me a mask-as masks are needed in this building) and big big shout out to David! He was so kind and patient and helpful! I really appreciate how competent, knowledgeable, professional and patient DAVID was with me. Thank you for hiring great people like David and Susanna (and the other woman working with David the first time i went to window 5). She like all the employees listed were great at 101 Grove Street! Not one complain. Thank you all again! I appreciate people David and Susanna and all the city workers that are working hard during Covid to be in service to mankind and help others! “The property is no longer a hotel, rather it is currently an SRO community. Plenty of formerly homeless people (myself included) now call it "home". The facilities are adequate, although the laundry room has poor ventilation so drying is problematic, in addition to users leaving their "items" for days in the machines. But there are several alternative laundry facilities in the area. The rents are marginally affordable if you're on a fixed income or low income worker. The elevator is in "working" condition although it bounces when stopping at a floor often, a bit unnerving for some. The only real concern is the surly noisy people who camp on the sidewalks on both sides of Eddy Street, as there are plenty of extruded leavings despite the public toilets nearby (even though there is plenty of free newspapers to poo upon) some folks apparently care less. And the scavenged garbage is strewn all over the place from trash bins daily that you have to get used to it. The Tenderloin Neighborhood Street Cleaners have 2 pressure wash trucks of their own but you hardly ever see them in use. Some of the "street cleaners" are selective of what they can or will pick up though. On my floor, there is a resident that seems to enjoy leaving excrement in the halls, as if they are intentionally waiting till the last second. There are portable toilets available, and if you can't afford one, you can always keep a jar, for peeing, and plastic bags or newspapers for pooping in. Sighs.”

“Excellent service, first of all. I took my 15 year old son to get his real ID, and the process was very fast. We arrived at around 7 AM and we left at around 8 AM. First, you arrive and check in with the DMV Employee, and have paperwork ready. Then, they send you a electronic ticket that tells you where you are in the line. Then, you wait for your turn. That simple. Some advice for parents taking their children for the first time: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ALL THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK. Make sure that they have a document that has their name and address. And same thing applies for parents. You can use bills, rent paperwork, etc.”

“What you may be biking or jogging past is the new and improved 'Mark IV' pump station. Yes, this is the fourth pump station here and was improved in 2012 to resist earthquakes, fires, bad hair and other disasters. Did you know, the first 2 pump stations here date back to the 19th Century? The new pumps have an attractive robin's egg blue paint job. Remember 1906, er, not personally but conceptually? This place pumps an average 50 million gallons per day to a couple of reservoirs where it may come in handy when the big one hits. Like the lake? This station diverts rainwater away from the sewer system to top up the lake for your viewing pleasure.”
