Sabbatical Distillery and Tasting Room

Our visit was incredible and well worth the drive. Danny served us and was engaging, informed, and personable. The spirits were amazing and complex, but very smooth. We are so glad we stopped by.

Visited the distillery and was pleasantly surprised by the story of the establishment, the history of the area, and of course the spirits. The effort that has gone into the clean, well organized distillery is impressive. At a glance you may expect it is the result of a large staff and years of work but in fact it has been carried out with only a few people with most of the work being done by the founder, Jack Zech, an enthusiastic multigenerational farmer. This is California small batch farming at its best. I’ll be back!

Sabbatical is definitely worth visiting. They're relatively new, and they gave us the time of day in giving us the full tasting experience. It helped that we visited right before they closed down for the Christmas break! We left with a few purchases, which we felt were well worth the price of admission. And that's the thing - they charged us nothing for the entire tasting range!

Visitors should buy their gin - and ask the guide to give you their blueberry liqueur mixed with a lemon soda. I need to remember to have one of them at the end of a hot summer's day. Very refreshing!

Great local distillery. The team is working on making as many ingredients for the their spirits as possible there on the farm. They've made a bourbon, a blended table whiskey and a cherry smoked in the style of scotch. Really delicious!
