“My wife and I lived on a 40 foot sailboat for about 3 years while we both attended college. At the time, our total living expenses excluding food was less than $500 per month. That included boat slip, boat mortgage, and utilities. Brisbane keeps their marina in really good shape. I never had any problem related to them. Tenants tended to keep to themselves, not a very social group. But never any problems. Redwood Marina to the South has dry dock facilities. Redwood does not have as nice a facility, but it's a great place to work on your boat. Things were cramped living on a small sailboat, no place to put anything we might want to buy. But being able to start the motor, disconnect from the dock, and spend the evening just a 1/4 mile out on the Bay was priceless. No city noises, it was so relaxing. We would go sailing about once a month, but school required most of our time.”
