“In soliciting any kind of professional service, the top three things I look for are competence, integrity, and diligence. Upon meeting Debbie and Marla for the first time, I knew my realtor search was over, and they did not disappoint. Debbie’s team expertly handled the staging, marketing and negotiations for our San Mateo condo. I appreciated the frequent texts and communications keeping me apprised of the activity on the sale. Debbie knows the market well, sets realistic expectations, and sold our condo for list price. The added perk to working with Debbie is she’s a genuinely caring person. Unless you love the process, which I do not, she dramatically reduces the stress out of real estate by leading you through every step of the way. I have worked with half a dozen realtors across the country; hands down Debbie is the BEST realtor I have worked with and she is now our go-to for all future deals in the Bay Area.”

“George Hall has lovely teachers, a wonderful and caring principal, and an engaged parent community. There is a school-wide focus on kindness, inclusion, and gratitude. It has had many changes to the campus in the last few years including a large shade structure so the kids don't have to eat in the sun, two new gardening areas, and several other smaller artistic enhancements such as a little free library and various tree murals.”

“I have ordered three sets of couches from here and have never had a problem. The best part is you can pick your material and styles. The women in the shop were more than helpful about assisting me in picking out patterns and style of couch. They all have lasted and were delivered usually within two weeks of ordering.”

“The building is older but spacious and clean. The unit has a lot of windows. I love all the sunlight that comes in to my unit. It is close to Caltrain and I love walking to all the restaurants. The office staff is always available and the maintenance staff takes care of work orders fast. I would give it a five star for the value.”

“There are two preschools housed on the Turnbull campus -- a fee-based mandarin immersion school and a state-subsidized English speaking preschool. This review covers the fee-based mandarin immersion school. Our daughter attended Turnbull for the second half of her Pre-K 4 year (she is now a 1st grader in the school next door) and our son is in his second year at the school (in Pre-K 4 after completing Pre-K3 last year) and we couldn't be happier with the education they received/are receiving. We wanted an immersive mandarin speaking, play-based and not-too-academically-intense environment for the kids. Turnbull is great -- from the administrators to the teachers -- we've found everyone to be caring, conscientious, and enthusiastic. The teacher-student ratio is great -- there is a main teacher and two assistants for each classroom of 18 to 22 students. I like that there doesn't seem to be too much turnover since consistency is so important in challenging programs like dual-language ones. My daughter and son had the same wonderful Pre-K 4 teacher -- and I'm hoping my youngest (2 years away from attending) will also have her. She, and the other teachers I've interacted with at Turnbull, are very dedicated to their students and I've always felt that I could go to them with any concerns I may have. My son loves going to school. The school year is arranged around weekly units where the students learn mandarin in context. Occasional field trips, regular music and movement classes supplement the day-to-day activities. Every year there are three or four performances where the kids show off their singing skills and classroom work. There is some character recognition lessons, but from what I've seen it's low pressure and meant to enrich the language learning. Overall, we are very satisfied with Turnbull. The only caveat is that both the Principal and the Enrollment Coordinator are retiring this year. Hopefully, they'll be replaced with equally great people, but that would be the only question mark I would have going forward.”

“This is a GREAT place to go for sushi! I've never been brave enough to try it until my fiancé took me here during their Grand Opening, and since he knew the owner, I felt obligated, in a way, to at least give this a shot. No regrets! We told the owner that it's my first try ever and he began asking me questions. From my answers he personalized a Poke bowl designed for my liking, and it was amazing!!! I totally trust and respect this man and his fresh food, so this is the ONLY place I've ever eaten sushi, and it's always top notch! Not to mention all of the other great things they have to offer, such as the Sake or the big TV to catch a game while you enjoy your meal with family or friends. And did I mention that this place is owned and operated with a small staff of his close family members? All the love just flows through from back to front of the place. It can't get much better than that!”

“I’ve been going here for years. Good restaurant. The staff are friendly. The food is tasty. The portions are good. I like the salmon teriyaki. The happy hour menu is reasonably priced. Although the salads used to have two tomato halves. Now they only have one.”

“OK, so first, I am a Medical Doctor, a Surgeon, not a Psychiatrist. However, I believe that mental illness is a much greater problem than our society recognizes. I have discussed my opinions with a Psychiatrist friend, and we agree. I have some personal experience with Humboldt house. Humboldt House, in San Mateo, California is a wonderful, and much needed halfway house in San Mateo for people with mental illnesses. The place is clean and neat, and the people managing the place try to make it look as attractive as possible. They are also very nice and caring people, who care about the residents. They arrange, and make sure that the residents have medical insurance. They make sure the residents have and keep their doctor appointments, that they take their medications and that they have food. During the Covid pandemic, they arranged for every resident to get vaccinated. They arranged for Covid testing, and for booster shots. Well, in general, the staff makes sure that residents with mental illness have a pleasant, and safe place to live, and they take care of them and care for them when the residents may not have anybody else to take care of them. They treat all of the residents as part of their own family, and do everything that a family member would be expected to do for them. I have personally observed that the staff also treat the residents with respect. What is a person who has a mental illness supposed to do when his or her parents get too old to care for them or die? Those who are accepted at Humboldt House or a similar facility are the lucky ones. Sadly, there are not many places like Humboldt House We desperately need more facilities such as Humboldt House everywhere in California and all across America. I have a relative who has a serious mental illness. He has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, among other mental disorders. He previously had a tendency to violence and did a lot of damage to my house. He once even attacked me and tried to throw me off a third story balcony. He has been hospitalized in mental hospitals more than once. He was hospitalized in San Francisco for about 2 years several years ago. After he was discharged, arrangements were made to get him into Humboldt House. He was referred to a private Psychiatrist. His condition is now relatively well stabilized as long as he takes his medications, but he still has problems. I am well past normal retirement age, and well past my expected life expectancy. It is such a relief to know that my relative will have a safe place to live and people who will care about him and for him when I am either gone, or no longer able to take care of him.”

“Nicole Cherok is a fantastic chiropractor. She does only activator chiropractic, which is exactly what I needed after a hip replacement. No cracking, no pushing, just leg checks and the activator, which is like a hypodermic needle (no needles involved), and works on every joint in your body. She also does cold laser and traction if you need it. Dr. Cherok is concerned about her patients and offers only the best care. A wonderful doctor!!”
