“Expansive building and massive book collection, lower lighting on the upper stories. Available to the public with signing in at kiosk, presenting ID, answering questions that you just filled out about yourself, and being printed out a day pass. Upon exit they will want to look inside your bag. The more modern furniture is on the main floor and that gets pretty full at certain times of day. The second floor has the lovely Lane Humanities study room and the windows and long wooden tables give it a classical feeling, just avoid the couple of very creaky wooden chairs and spare yourself the embarrassment. On the 3rd floor are the more general book collections and is currently partially under construction. There are work and study desks along the walls, furniture is like stepping back into the 90s. The loveliest room is the Bender reading room on the 5th floor. All in all, descent spot to study. Uni wifi, bathrooms on each floor, but you do have to have an ID and you'd think the university could afford some updated furniture.”

“It's a great place to work long hours with very helping and friendly people and staffs around. Media suits are very limited though and the technical support is not for multimedia problem solving. But its very homely and perfect to work alone. Its nothing like the MIT media lab. Its Stanford's own little place gwith a techlounge.”

“Hosts one of the best online map collections in the West! The map center is located at Sanford University in the main library. The center is a bit hard to find but a fun search also. You travel up two flights of stairs. The stairwell is beautifully painted with murals of maps. The center itself is mostly an auditorium. There is a wall-sized multi-touch display of Google Earth that features many of the collected maps which are georeferenced and overlaid on the interactive map. This is one of the most exciting features to work with in the room. There are some physical maps and historical artifacts to view. However, the full map collection is accessible online and from my knowledge, not available for viewing at the center. For the best experience, visit when there is a scheduled talk or seminar.”
