Campground | New Brighton State Beach

Best Christmas camping weather this year. So beautiful when the weather is good.

Yes, rolled into Site #73 around 8pm on 12/22/2022 and wow, backed up my DW-ULANCE facing the Bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, left the back doors of my converted former Red Cross Ambulance open and listened to the waves breaking on the seashore below me and fell asleep! Again …WOW!

We stayed here for 4 nights after scoring a last-minute cancelation the week prior. It is such a great campground. It was quiet while we were there and you could hear the waves crashing in the background. Our site was pretty large and most sites were well spaced with good privacy. Bring your bikes! We rode down into Capitola Village a few times to get dinner and just hang out. Be sure to try AJs Market up the street and Brusters Ice Cream by the Safeway. The beach is amazing. We walked all the way from here to the Pixie Deli in Aptos and it was just a lot of fun. Will definitely be back. Enjoy!

New Brighton Beach is a state park with campsite that range from basic to full hook ups. We had full hook ups with a very level spot. Access to the beach is available via trail or a short drive to the lower parking lot. The beach wasn't that great as it was packed and the water is not the cleanest on the west coast. But you are super close to Capitola or Santa Cruz so your options are vast. And obviously trails for various activities are abundant in the area.

But we made the best of and had fun. Kids rode bikes around with no problems and plenty of other kids. Showers were clean and just like any other place needs quarters.

Overall we will probably head back one day.
