“It's a beautiful place surrounded by trees and birds/ deers. Nature itself is already a great healer. Sister PC, the nun who practices Buddha's teaching here, is very kind and friendly. She always welcomes everyone. I do mean everyone regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, ages, sex, ability... With a busy life, work, kids, job, I sometimes feel stress, but every time visiting Camp Metta, I always leave feeling calmer. I learn to let go, connect to nature, and practice living mindful. The minute I am there, I already feel the sense of belonging and the energy of a mindful community. The bells reminds me to pause and enjoy my breath... Before the pandemic, they have a few retreats throughout the year for people to sign up with a very reasonable donation fee including lunch and activities (making mushroom kit, painting,...) Their retreat are thoughtful planned with guided meditation, mindful lunch, mindful walking, ...Since they especially focus on support the young generation learning mindfulness, they often have different fun body/ mind / spirit activities for children (water painting, trampoline,...) With different focus, they sometimes invite guest speakers to talk about different topics (food and medicine,... ) They also have culture event like Lunar New Year, Buddha Birthday, Parent Appreciation...to celebrate / introduce Vietnamese culture to people. The center is fairly new and with a limited budget, so they are in slow process of renovation to make Camp Metta more suitable for public use. You can find different ways to support them through donation and volunteer work (gardening, cooking, cleaning, helping with events,...). If you have small children, volunteer with them is also a great way to teach them giving back to the community. And the key is learning how to incorporate mindful living in every thing we do...which isn't always easy since we often get pulled in all kind of directions/ goals, so having a community to work on it together and remind one other is very helpful :) Peace & Love !”

“Sandi has helped me through all kinds of issues with my horses over the years very successfully. With kindness and warmth and humor when needed she has enabled me to take my horses on thousands of trail miles. I am doing things I never thought possible with my horses, and have done it all in such a way with Sandi’s tutelage that my horses greet me daily with a “Pick me!” attitude!”

“One of the best places to go for a bike ride. There are few trails to choose from but they are some of the best in the state. Always amazingly maintained by the local bike shops. Made for most riders - from newbies to advanced. Lots of climbing thought and E-bikes re not allowed.”

“I was impressed with all aspects of the sales process. I had the pleasure of visiting the forest and was delighted with the beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Max provided me with a wealth of information in advance and Alicia was a wonderful, patient guide. The whole experience could not have been better. I am also thrilled to have trees planted in our name elsewhere in California. Highly recommend!”

“Absolutely loved it. This place is a must visit for any adventure seeker, trail runner, biker, the list goes on... by far one of the best trails I've ridden in a long time. If you're riding, I recommend you bring your "A"game and plenty of water, and snacks. Everyone out there is helpful, polite, respectful, and it's just really nice to experience. We're all just trying to have a good time.”

“Skyland Community Church is a very special place with dear and kind people. I have been attending and participating at Skyland Community Church for about 20 years. Over all these years I find the people to be kind and inclusive and welcoming to new folks, as well as those who have been attending for a long time. This was a fine place to raise my daughters. I particularly appreciate that EVERYONE is welcome at Skyland Community Church, including folks with different religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, races, ages, and different ideas about God and Jesus. I also enjoy our community, comprised of all ages, committed to learning from Jesus now, and acting in the world as best we can, informed by Jesus's words and teachings.”

“What a great experience we had when we took our granddaughter for private riding lessons at Equine Rescue! A friendly, relaxed but very professional and perfectly tailored experience for the age of our granddaughter. It was wonderful what she received during those 90 minutes: getting to know the horse in the stable, grooming it, putting on the saddle and bridle and then walking it herself to the well taken care of and large sand arena for the actual riding lesson. Then the lessons themselves: lots of friendly and helpful instruction but also the reminder “you have to show the horse who‘s boss.“ 20 minutes before the actual end of the 90 minute lesson - back to the stable and the handling of all the things necessary for the horse after a ride. Some carrots for it as a thank you, and then back to its stable. What fun it was to be there as an observer! Last but not least, thanks to the wonderful young lady who was the teacher!”

“All I can say is WOW. It was easy to book and so close to the 200ft Redwood climbing adventure I did. It was just like I was coming to visit old friends. The house is amazing, the owners make you feel like it’s your home. They will give you your privacy or hang out and talk. If your into wine or relaxing or trees and nature (like me). This is the place to stay. Get out of the city and get into nature. I will be back for sure.”

“Great roadside pit stop with a EV fast charger, grill, bar and great views. Although it’s a bit rough and shows it’s age, the employees are friendly and helpful. There’s also live bands on Thursday nights.”
