“Rebecca is amazing! She has decades of experience with attending births, both as a doula and a midwife. She knows so much that if you have any fears, she will put you at ease--every question I asked was answered thoroughly. My mind was at ease with the technical details and my heart was at ease knowing that she truly cares about my emotional well-being. She was my midwife for the births of two of my three children. If you ask to be left alone, she will stand back and patiently wait and only intervene if she feels it's necessary. If you ask her to help, she will jump in and is there with 100% focus on mama. With so much experience, she has lots of good tips for pregnancy and birth. When she told me about the "hand squeeze" for labor, I didn't think much of it--in fact I thought "How could squeezing my hands help me?" Lo and behold, with the birth of my third child, I begged for her to do it to my hands and feet and that was all that got me through! Another good tip was taking a shot of vodka in some orange juice. My second labor was 19 hours and I had back labor. At about 16 hours in, I was getting very tired and was in a lot of pain. While in the tub, I took a shot of vodka and was actually able to sleep between contractions for the next two hours! Prenatal care includes many hours of classes on nutrition, exercise, breastfeeding, newborn care, and a mock birth to practice breathing. With my first child, I had no classes whatsoever. The birth was miserable. My third child was born all in one push because of the breathing techniques I learned from Rebecca. She was right by me reminding me to "blow blow blow the baby down". Because I was focusing on breathing, my body was able to its 'thang' and out came the baby like a rocket! By the way, the classes are included as part of your prenatal care. Usually you have to pay extra (about $350) for childbirth classes from a childbirth educator and then set aside yet another night per week to go to the classes. With Rebecca, you go from getting your pee, weight, blood pressure, etc. checked right into the class. Very convenient! With my first I also had an episiotomy. The scar from that tore with the birth of my second child. Rebecca gave me some 'rules' for what to do to help the scar heal quickly, such as no going up stairs for a couple weeks and to keep my knees together for a month. I did this and the recovery was much better than my first! I sure wish they had told me that with my first child--instead most of the first month was spent with me sitting cross-legged (knees far apart). Rebecca is the best! We love her so much and can't imagine having anyone else attend our births. Whenever I find out a friend is pregnant, I give them Rebecca's name and phone number. You will not be disappointed.”
