“I stopped by here the other day because a friend had a show. This is an artist co-op, in a light and lovely older building with work by several artists on display. Downtown Benicia is full of artsy places as well as places to eat, so this is one spot can lead to a variety of places for art, walk, and food. A great place to go for relaxing, viewing and having fun.”

“The flowers designed for my friend were just wonderful and exactly what she needed (and what I hoped for ordering remotely off the website)! Really beautiful and interesting selection in a muted palette. I can't say enough about how happy the bouquet made both of us, will definitely order again!”

“Sweetness ABOUT THE STORE Located in downtown Benicia, this floral boutique is nicely situated on the town’s Main Street, just a few blocks from the water. I’ve popped in a couple of times and it is always filled with fresh flowers that are in full view upon entering. Though their primary are fresh flowers, they do have a few plants and dried flowers available. They also sell other merch for your gifting or self-indulgent needs (this is a no judgement zone). Items include: beautiful waffle robes, silk masks, candles and lotions. What I particularly love are the branches hanging from the ceiling; the store design lets you know they put a lot of thought into creating a warm and inviting space. Almost as though you were entering a friend’s home to pick up flowers from their garden (which they do have a small outdoor space where other plants hang out). EXPERIENCE I came in for a dried floral arrangement with nothing but my vase and zero ideas to contribute. My brief was simple: anything that did not require water/maintenance). Though this shop does mainly focus on florals, Mariko didn’t bat an eye and briefly disappeared and returned with a base for a bouquet that we continued to work on together. She asked for feedback on colors (did we love them? Hate them?) and though I tend to lean towards neutrals, it was clear that a punch of color was the right option based on her pulls. Since I had not yet decided where it would be placed in my home, she helped to ensure that the arrangement would look great at any angle you viewed it from. The attached photo is the final arrangement in-store along with the vase I brought in. SERVICE I really appreciate how responsive the owner was on social media. I’ve reached out initially about my vase via Instagram along with a few other needs I had. I can promise you that these pre-caffeinated messages rambled a bit and we’re scattered. But the responses where quick, friendly and helpful! This team really likes working with their clients and encourages collaboration with any arrangement they are creating, which is evident in our exchange. As someone who is florally inept, it is fun to have a partner in a business to help bring in more life into a home. BONUS: they are right next to Fox and Fawn bakehouse. So you may as well pick a cupcake or cookie up while you are there.”

“Finding a massage therapist is easy. Finding *your* massage therapist is a different story. Enter Lito of Active Comfort. If you’ve been searching for a masseuse in Benicia keep reading. Or don’t bother and just hit up the site to schedule an appointment. Otherwise if you like an in-depth review, keep reading. If you don’t then you’re SOL (sorry, not sorry). BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT You can book an appointment by using the site’s contact out form. I sent an inquiry in and received a response quickly after. We exchanged some quick messages to coordinate time and everything was booked. I was in the next day. AMBIANCE Active Comfort is one of many other business that are part of The Suite Spot. The common space has a seating area while you wait for your appointment. The space is shared by other small business owners offering other self care services (facials, waxing, spray tans). The space is no frills but it does the job. The massage room is large with one bed. The bed is nice and plush. Slipping in between the sheets you will feel the warmth of the bed to help your muscles relax. But my favorite part was the music; it started out with typical spa music but later transitioned into instrumental Disney music. The right level of nostalgia for me. THE EXPERIENCE I arrive about 10 min before my appointment. Once I entered the common space, Lito came to greet me short after. We entered the room and discussed areas of concern. For me, my shoulders and upper back. Unlike other massages, the service begins with assisted stretches on your back (clothes on). This helps to loosen you up and the stretches feel really nice. If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to try a personal trainer, it’s akin to the stretches they help you with in your cool down session. It is NOT like the types of stretches of spas attempt to do it feels like they are whipping your limbs around. These stretches are intentional. You will feel the stretch and it will feel great. After a few minutes of this, Lito stepped out so we could bring my massage. I prefer a firm massage because of how much tension and knots I have in my back. Lito had great and consistent pressure and provided acupressure in places where I needed it. Lito found my knots. And then he found knots I didn’t even know I had. As with any massage therapist, Lito checked in on the pressure to make sure it was meeting my needs but what really sets him apart is once it was time to turn over, he asked if there were any other areas I wanted to go over again before making the flip. No one has ever asked me this before and I really appreciated it. His massage does incorporate a lot of stretches which helps to loosen muscles and increase the blood flow. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this but I really enjoyed it. I already know midway through my appointment that I would be back. Lastly, Lito’s towel/coverage etiquette is excellent. I was always appropriately covered and securely in place. If you only like massages by a female therapist or are looking for a couples massage, you’ll have to keep looking. AVAILS Hours of operation are noted on the site but will call out that Active Comfort is open until 9pm most days. This means relaxation after hours is possible which is critical for me when I have a random knot in my shoulder I need help with. MY ONLY REGRET I only booked a 60 minute appointment. I should’ve booked 90 minutes. I’m already counting down to my next appointment.”

“Great hidden bar with a local selection of craft brews. We had a great chat with the bartender and other friendly patrons. The bar felt nostalgic (in a good way) and they allow outside food. Overall great place to go!”

“I am so thankful for Ms. Birnbaum and her team Katie & Monique. These ladies are quite remarkable and very professional! They truly work as a team. When Katie is sending me my next hearing date, Monique is simultaneously sending me documents to look over and Ms. Birnbaum is calling me in the next few minutes for a follow up. It’s like clockwork. They mean business and these ladies are so dependable & get the job done correctly. Their response time is quick and very efficient. Ms. Birnbaum is patient and easy to talk to especially if you are not familiar with court lingo. She will provide you the best legal advice for family cases. I had hired a lawyer before Ms. Birnbaum many years ago when my child custody/ support case began and was very vulnerable. I lost that case and I felt so awful, helpless and hopeless. I was so disappointed of the lack of responsibility my 1st attorney had during my case. She did not have my best interest at heart. Recently I asked Ms. Birnbaum to represent me after my ex-husband filed a new motion on our court case, I couldn’t be more happier with this team. They truly have your best interest at heart. Ms. Birnbaum is very intelligent and quite firm. She does her homework very well and reviews your case thoroughly and gathers all the information she needs to prepare herself for your case. Don’t waste all your savings on attorneys that you sense don’t really feel like their working to help you. Every penny I spent on this team was well worth it. The peace of mind of knowing this team has my back and is fighting for me and my girls is priceless. I wish I would’ve met this team during my initial case back in 2013. I urge you to speak to Ms. Birnbaum and her team about any questions or concerns about family law, child custody or support. Their goal is to help you fight your case!”

“I never write reviews and would say I'm generally a hard person to impress, but I can't say enough good things about this company and its employees. Long story short, I bought a used car and while going through the title transfer, realized there was a huge snag based on how the previous owner titled the car in another state. This could have been a disaster for me since I had already paid the owner and he had moved away. I called EZ Reg 4 U and they agreed to help. It involved a lot of emails, calls, express letters, onsite DMV visits, and standing in line. All things that these folks did on my behalf. I owe a lot to Druscilla and Kimberly for all their help but they only charged the normal fee. They honestly do truly care about their customers. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone. I wish I could get service like this from every place I went - I'll be their customer for life.”

“Made a Fri night reservation - great bartender, drinks were fantastic. Creative options + the classics like a refreshing Mint Julep or a Sidecar. Loved the pasta! Definitely go when you feel like a nice cozy pasta-date, without all the fuss and frills of heading into the city. Probably not a place for big groups, most tables were couples or doubles quietly sipping.”

“I left Benicia for Richmond VA 3 years ago. Big mistake, as the CA people warned, for me with this godawful heat and humidity but I miss nothing more than Dr. Hill. First couple times I saw him I was cynical, a doctor trying to pass as a human being. Yeah right. But even after popping into his office to see if I could catch him in his ruse, the seemingly caring, compassionate, witty down to earth guy was there. No comparison!!!!!”
