Perfect place! Not only saved and restored, but also beautifully maintained. An interesting exposition showing the life of the support department of the Russian-American company. Enough visitors and excursions. Interesting events are held. A small part of Russian history in California.
This was a really cool slice of california history. Quite unique and really well done as a museum. If you're driving the 1 and have an hour or two, totally worth it.
Had an interesting tour here. The guides were super nice and it was more than worth the 5 dollars. Would do it again. Also recommend going into the Call house if it’s open.
The visitor center offers a 20 minute history video of Fort Ross. I highly recommend watching this before you stroll through the brilliant fort. It's incredibly built and positioned. Enjoy your time in this place of great history.
Fort Ross is wonderful for the history of the place. I for one did not know that there have been Russian settlements in California. I found it fascinating to see how they lived and worshipped amid the challenges of the new world.
What was even more interesting was listening to people speaking Russian who were on the same tour. ???? I took Russian at Hopkins so I could make out a few words.
