I enjoyed my stay. The fish weren't biting but it was enjoyable.
They were short staffed due to a few being sick and one on maternity leave. Everyone was working at a fast pace. To make sure the campers needs were all taken care of..
Very nice RV and camp grounds with Cabins for rent too. Lots of shade and space. Day use was $8 per car. Store, horse shoes, restrooms and more. I was pleasantly surprised how nice this little lake was. Dog friendly
We ended up leaving Lake Minden RV Resort a night earlier than expected. Here's why...
The campground was very nice though: big spaces, far from the freeway, clean bathrooms, etc...
However, the lake was closed to everyone except the jet boats while we were there. The temperature was over 100*. It was a disappointment to be thought of as not as valuable as the jet boats. I understand that it is a safety is, however, I wonder: did we not pay the same rate as the jet boats?
Moral of the story? Ask if ANYTHING is closed while you are going to stay there. Maybe ask for a discount if your purchase is not going to include the full slate of amenities advertised.
We stayed here last night and after seeing so many mixed reviews, I had to check this out for myself and I'll tell ya, I was actually very impressed. I thought it was beautiful, the lake was serene and calm - not the murky green someone else wrote. It looked more blue and very pretty to watch the sunset over it. When you first pull in, you have to stop at the Welcome Center to check in. If you have a bigger say, say 32' or longer, I personally wouldn't stay in A as these are very small lots just like everyone said. We drove around to the back on the upper right end of the lake and stayed in D. We arrived around 3pm and had several lots to choose from. We were able to get one of the back-end lots right at the lake so we had beautiful views. There's showers and bathroom nearby and I was so impressed with how clean these were. I saw a tablet showing how the cleaners mark down when they clean and you can see the bathrooms are cleaned every day. I didn't see one piece of trash and the whole bathroom looked spotless - so big plus here.
We got takeout at the Mexican Restaurant and it was so good! We had fajitas and burritos and the tortillas were good too.
Everyone we met was super nice - we didn't meet one grumpy person. All the spots are dirt or gravel so plan accordingly. The walk from D to the Mexican Restaurant was 10 minutes so a close walk. A is right next to it so just a minute or two if you're in A and you can order your food at the Mexican restaurant for take-out.
I didn't see one mosquito. I spayed so much Off after reading the reviews and not one bug - well maybe that was the product at work lol but my husband didn't spray himself and he said he didn't see one mosquito so maybe this is a seasonal thing?
All that to say, I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews here. This place is everything you should expect when camping at a lake. It was well-kept and was safe, quiet and fun. All the things I enjoy when Rv'ing. Hope that helps someone!
