* Late review - Hiked in four miles with my 10year old during the dry spell we had. If there's no water flowing at the start of your hike, there's not likely any at your camp. Carry in everything you need and carry out everything you brought. Very mild walk in. Expect plenty of company on weekends but there are a wide range of spots to be found to pitch a tent away from the pack.
There are really no markers to tell you that you’ve arrived at Bear Creek Camp. But the one and only grove of conifers (as seen here in the picture) indicates you’re very close. In Autumn, Sespe Creek is only visible above ground every few miles. Bear Creek is spring-fed. So it flows year round. Where it enters Sespe Creek, there is a permanent pond (also shown in photo). If you’re passing through, if you get to this camp ground, you’re only about 100 yards from where the trail crosses Sespe Creek. That is, if you’re headed out to Willett Springs, or somewhere further down the trail. Beautiful Los Padres back country either way.
This Is a great campsite right against the water with fish that have no fear. Literally no fear. Swim right next to you and wont go away, Haha. The site is over 4, almost 5 miles from the Peidra Blanca trail head. Great for a day hike and a swim or a short weekend backpacking trip.
About 5 miles hike from Piedra Blanca Trailhead. There is water in the creek when I visited Oct 2017. Bring your own water filter! It seems to be a hunter's camp we saw 2 groups of hunters during our stay.
Nice sandy camp sites next to the creek. Can be very crowded on weekends.
Hi all, going to do my first solo backpacking trip (well, solo but with my dog) in Sespe this weekend. Just one night. Aware that water conditions...
