“3 miles west is Sunset campground. in between the 2 camps, thar be gold in them hills. Draw a straight line to Sunset camp and check each creek that crosses that line. Be patient, you'll find some, but don't spend all day in one spot. Also, watch for really hungry bears in late summer.”

“We come here with friends, set up a shared site and feel like we have our own little slice of Heaven all to ourselves. The beach is clean and almost completely empty of people. The campground has been really quiet, probably because its mid week. Wishing for more sun this trip, but still any day at the edge of the Ocean is a good one, right???”

“Great place for its closeness to the ocean. You can no longer have fires in the rocks. Bring a portable pit. Some people have fires because the don't read the rules.”

“Took my dog Tara for her 1st visit to the beach. This place is easy to get to right off the 101, easy parking, friendly people camped out and easy access to the beach and it is a very nice place to just sit and watch the surfers too. There is a small cafe snack place, public wash rooms and place to sit down and eat while watching the surf.”

“Beautiful place to do some moderate to difficult hiking. Great views.”

“IMPORTANT! Bring lots of water and snacks for a day hike. Plan your trip and let someone know you will be hiking in the area so they can come and assist if you have an emergency. There is no cell phone service. Do not deviate from your planned route and time frame. There are steep mountain sides and no railing to protect from falls. Some sections of the trail go past drop offs that will most likely lead to death if you fall. Why 4 stars. This is the beginning of the trail that takes you to the Deal Campground. Once at Deal, the trail branches to Upper Rancho Nuevo Campsite, which is another 6 to 7 miles. I would rate the trail as moderate for physically active people. The elevation changes are gradual and spaced out. We went during the month of July and the temperature was about 95 degrees F. Bees where everywhere in the thickest areas of the trail. About 2 miles past the Deal campsite, we stumbled on a large bee hive and caused us to redirect. Not much of vast and open scenery, however, you will enjoy the quiet and tranquil sounds of nature. No one else is around. The beaten trail crosses the creek multiple times. Ensure you keep your footwear and feet dry. Muddy areas may prevent you from crossing the creek and find another path. Getting lost is almost impossible. Just follow the creek.”

“Came in late and stayed in overflow on the back side of the lake. The staff and rangers where super friendly and helpful. The other guests where friendly quiet and the evening was cool with a nice breeze. Not loud at all. Loved hearing the sounds of nature while we settled down for the night. We RV camp so no need to use the facilities but there are flushing toilets water facet near every sight.”
