Great area to hike. Terrific trails & great scenery. 👍
Challenging and fun!
Lovely, beautiful place. I love the mountains here, and the rocks are interesting. Probably better during the spring when it's green outside, but not bad year round.
Very nice place to go take a hike. View at night is the best.
This is the most Westerly entrance to the Santa Susana State Historic Park. There is a dirt parking lot in front of the entrance. Upon entering the park you will see a kiosk and a bathroom. If you go North from this area you will follow a trail that will go up and down a few ridges leading to a meadow. Many wild flowers and beautiful views of the San Fernando Valley to be seen in spring.
If you go south, you will follow the trail the leads you to the old stagecoach road and a steep decline call the devils slide. Before going down the hill, there is a spur off to the right that leads to a pond. This is a man made reservoir which fills up with water during the winter and is the home for millions of poly-wags. Later frogs are seen hopping from the pond and animal tracks can be found in the mud.
There is also a picnic table under shady trees for having lunch.
