When I was pregnant and deciding how and where I wanted to give birth it was very daunting to start looking around as I had only lived in the USA for about 12 months so was all new to how the medical system works here and if it was possible to have the kind of birth I wanted. I really wanted a home birth but wasn't 100% sure if it would be right for me as my first birth although it had been planned for a home one ended up being at the hospital as my pregnancy went way overdue.
Simi Valley Birth Center was I think the second or third place I looked up and as soon as I saw the reviews and just the way the website was presented compared to others I felt this one might be the one for me. When Rachel responded to my message of enquiry promptly and was so easy to deal with I started to feel comfortable right away. When we met her and saw the birth center I knew instantly this was what I wanted. Rachel was so confident and yet understanding and I just loved how everything was so uncomplicated. After having my first child at a hospital I knew what it was like and I didn't want that again for my second if I could help it. I decided right there and then that I wanted my second birth to be with Rachel at her birth center. And I thank the Lord the whole experience from beginning to end was just so simple and uncomplicated as I said before and the actual birth again was to me the dream birth. The room was quiet and there were no beeping machines and monitoring straps in the way and people buzzing around. Just Rachel and one of her students quietly popping in and out every so often to check the baby's heartbeat and that was it! It was a truly incredible experience and it was so peaceful and quiet I kept looking around thinking there was something missing. But I want to thank Rachel and her team for the most amazing experience and I think Rachel is an extremely incredible and talented woman and I would 1000% recommend her to anyone wanting to have a natural quiet peaceful birth experience.
Thank you Rachel and your team!
Rachel and the Simi Valley Birth Center team were hands down the best experience of prenatal, and postnatal care that i’ve had. I began my prenatal care through a hospital, early on, with a OB. But my care was never consistent with the same provider and I wanted to be able to be informed about my choices. With Rachel, Prenatal visits were never rushed, and SO informative. I really appreciated that Rachel was so sure of herself (comes with all of the experience) and came into each appointment with a calm and soothing energy. While it also seems like a minor detail, I really appreciated that at every visit, Rachel or Augustina ALWAYS asked for consent to touch my baby bump before starting measurements and listening to the heartbeat. Going through SVBC empowered me to listen to my body’s cues! This was my first go at childbirth and Rachel was so reassuring and professional! My baby girl needed a transfer to the hospital shortly after birth, but she made sure to follow along to the hospital and was sure to inform all of the doctors as well as making sure that I felt comfortable getting her to latch. In an overwhelming scenario, she sure made me feel grounded throughout the whole thing. Hands down will be coming back on my next baby!! 💕
Rachel and her team were amazing! I arrived at the birthing center with my contraction 2 minutes apart. They started the water in the tub. I went in and pushed and my beautiful baby came out. Rachel was very patient as she stitched me up after the birth. I was able to hold my baby in my arms without the affects of medication. It was a beautiful moment. If you want an unmedicated birth then Rachel and her team are the way to go. You won’t regret it.
I highly recommend Simi Valley Birth Center. Rachel and the student midwives are all so professional, supportive, and knowledgeable. This was my first natural birth and I couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful pregnancy and birth experience. I not only felt supported during my pregnancy and labor but also postpartum. The Simi Valley Birth Center is so welcoming and clean, the bathtubs are so beautiful as well. I am so thankful to have Rachel be my midwife.
I highly recommend Simi Valley Birth Center. The facility and large tub with the waterfall faucet are lovely! I came into care with Rachel late into my pregnancy around 36 weeks and my previous provider gave her incomplete records. Rachel was very thorough in the short time we had in running tests, check ups and educating me and my husband on the birth process. If I could define Rachel in a few words they would be kind, assertive and respectful. Rachel and the Simi Valley Birth Center facility were exactly what I was hoping for as I imagined my first birth and now as I plan my second.
