It was breathtaking. This is a place of beauty, and absolute peace (no connection anywhere in the surrounding little area, just a heads up...made it very hard for communicating with our ride where we were...that's the reason for 4 star) the picture below is a panorama, but this is nothing compared to the view you get once you reach the top.
I recommend:
- the Blue Ridge Trail, it isn't that difficult, and it has stunning views.
- Going in the morning, so the entire trail (5 miles) is covered and you get back with daylight. I went in January, and it got dark around 5.30pm
- BRING WATER. Can't emphasize this enough. Don't forget it.
-go with friends. Makes the experience a whole lot more fun, and it's a good event to add to memory lane.
-bring your own vehicle. Very convenient that way.
One if the most scenic areas in Northern California... Lake Berryessa, Napa... So many mountainous vistas and lake side views... Nature is a powerful thing
One of my favorite hikes! I used all trails app to navigate which was confusing at times. I started at holmstead which turns into blue ridge trail. Wear waterproof shoes because you have to walk through the tunnels and bring lots of water. It's get hot on top of the hills. Stunning views
It is beautiful here. You definitely need lots of water and some fresh legs. Once at the top of Blue Ridge, you get fantastic views. The trails are well maintained but heavily trafficked.
Google maps shows trail head on south-west side of road but there is only road side parking there with room for maybe 2-4 cars, and it is on a curve. It is much safer to park in the lot just east of this which is on the north side of road. There is a tunnel from that side of the road that brings you to another portion of the trail, I will try this next time. I went with a 3 and 5 year old and only made it half way to the look out mainly because it was nap time for the younger one. Next time. They enjoyed it though, saw several lizards and people with dogs on the hike.
