We stopped at this gift shop and museum to pick up a few knick knacks during our visit. Prices were reasonable and it was awesome looking at all the rocks and gems that they have on display. A short sleeve t-shirt runs around $ 22-23 a hat runs around $15. We got an awesome night light for about $17 and several magnets for about $ 6 bucks a piece. The bulk rocks are pretty reasonable we got some cool ones for less than $3 a piece. So be sure to add this little stop to your next cripple Creek visit and take some goodies home. These prices were based upon our stay in September 2022. PS by the way customer service was outstanding!
We had so much fun here! We searched the museum for clues to enter the gold nugget drawing—lots of fun.
This is a fabulous museum, consisting of the Midland Terminal Railway Depot, the Colorado Trading and Transfer, the Assay Office, as well as (2) Miner's Cabins. You can really take as long as you want to your all the buildings and the grounds, which are all grouped together within about a one square block area. Wife and I just loved the place. It was a bit on the quiet side, so we felt like we weren't rushed, and employees explained things as we went along. For instance, I didn't know prior who Ralph Carr was, and how important he was to the area (Cripple Creek) and it's developement.
Yep, there are restrooms on site, and the were even clean! I know you get tired or hearing me speak of restrooms in my reviews, but travelers find this an important issue!
Loved it. I highly suggest to anyone, even locals, to check it out. Affordable and so much to learn. The woman attendant at the entrance was very friendly(makes you feel welcome and like an old friend) and she was full of information about her museum's artifacts and local history. She made the tour fun and interesting.
This experience was worth every penny! Not a cheap tourist trap. The whole exhibit was very well done. This is simply a must-see during your visit to Cripple Creek. The train ride looked like a lot of fun.
