“In 2012 my mother came to live at Maplewood in Newtown. At that time she was not doing well physically. She had been living alone, not eating well, not drinking water staying hydrated, and socialization was minimal. Since her placement at Maple Wood at Newtown she has flourished. Unfortunately the cost of Maplewood has doubled and her funds will probably be gone before she is. That would be about 500,000.00 later. We are now trying to figure out how to tell her she will need to move out of the place she finally calls "home ". A place where she knew fellow residents from both her high school days and the days of raising her family in nearby Bethel. We do wish she could stay at Maplewood for the rest of her life, but she no longer can afford to. We thought we had figured it out financially with advisors & lawyers, but the increase in cost came much faster & larger than anticipated.”
