“My baby went 2 an all girl school from preK 3 to 5th grade & started at Jefferson her middle school year as we moved. I was a little nervous of her transition as this was her 1st time in school w/little boys & tho the beginning of the year was a lil rocky, she managed pretty well. I like the principal, he seems really engaged w/his students & the teachers weren't half bad either.”

“They know and study the culture of black people. They teach it to black youth so that they are correctly educated about there contributions to society. That isn't taught in a traditional elementary schools. They have renewed there charter after 15 yrs of successful teaching. It's great to see this school still thriving. We need more schools like this!”

“I am 55 now and went to Horace Mann Elementary School until 4th grade. It is so good to see it still doing well. I talked to a father that said it is one of the top Elementary Schools in the city. I believe when I went there it was one of the 1st to have students bused into it. We love the new class mates and I remember getting along very well. My friend Farris also when to Mann and his kids did as well. I heard that they had the same 4th grade teach that we did Mrs. Jackson. I remember visiting the school years ago and was so excited to see Mrs. Jackson still teach there. One of the highlights of the school is that we have recesses several times and got to play outside in the large field. I see now that the school is expanding. Will have to come back when it is done.”
