Yall. We have been coming here for a year now and I seriously don’t know how we survived on BBQ before them. Brisket is so good we have waited an hour and a half for it to finish cooking before! Hands down amazing food! They also cater! We used them for our wedding and the guest were all asking where we ordered from! 10 STARS!!!
Excellent BBQ and the best fried green tomatos around! I only need to add BBQ sauce on pulled pork/chicken, but everything else is well seasoned and flavorful!
Service is quick and good about checking on you. My drink is never empty, which I greatly appreciate.
The atmosphere is fine; what I appreciate the most is the cleanliness of the place. From the restroom to the kitchen, you can see that a clean restaurant is a priority. I also like that they are conscious of cross contamination, e.g. when handling money they wash their hands or put new gloves on.
Must try items:
Deep fried pies (all of them, especially the seasonal specials)
BBQ EGG ROLLS or BURRITOS when on special
Half chickens
Pulled pork sandwich, crispy fries, and a variety of sauces.
Did I mention WINGS?! That Korean BBQ is my fave. And the lemon pepper made with actual lemon juice.
Fried biscuits and the Florida Sampler 🤤
This place is a gem of a find. Deep South BBQ was a stop on our way back from Crystal River to Disney. The previous reviews sold us on why we needed to stop here and as expected it blew us away. As folks from the UK we do not have places like this back home so we wanted to try what Florida had to offer when it came to BBQ.
A small rustic wooden building gave a great true florida feel, just off the highway, the minute you open the car door you can smell the BBQ. It has the small local feel and we followed two lae enforcement gentlemen in, when those boys go to the place you know its tasty. And they didnt go just for the donuts. They told us its one of their favourite places to eat. High praise.
From walking in the service was first class. Advised how and where to order straight away, friendly staff who could not do enough. A friendly welcome that was followed up throughout our visit.
We ordered the famous Brisket in a sandwich with 2 sides (Sandwich Platter) and a pulled Pork sandwich, as well as kids chicken tenders meal which came with fries and a drink.
A short 10 minute wait and our food was with us piping hot and beautifully cooked.
The brisket comes in 3 types depending on your liking, meatier, fattier or inbetween. I went for inbetween. It came in a potatoe bun packed with 1/4 of the best brisket I have ever had. If I could give 6 stars I would. Hell if I could give it 10, I would still give it 11.
The BBQ pulled pork, again served with a potatoe bun was also amazing. Succulent, tender and tasty as hell. Again 1/4lb of meat. Amazing. Again this gets the full stars and would give it more if I could.
The fries were crunkle cut, propper chips as we call them in the UK. The coulsaw side was home made and fresh too.
The kids meal was as expected, a kids meal of chicken tenders and fries. But our lad eat the lot, first time he has done that while he has been here. So a hit with him.
Overall great value for money and the best food we have had on our trip so far. We loved the feel of the place and the friendly staff and locals and it was defo the beat place to stop off.
Highly recommend. Deep South Family BBQ, never change, because you are doing it all right. If we come back to Florida we will again be making a special trip here.
