We camp here often. The rangers/volunteers do a great job of maintaining the park. The restrooms are very clean. If I had one complaint, the ceiling fans in the bathhouse combined with the florescent lights above them, make for a spooky and unsettling shower (think of Hitchcock's Psycho).
Great Nature Walk. Clean Play Area for the kids with grills and shade. You can rent a canoe or put your own on the water. You can also fish from the docks. Lets Not forget The Giant Oak Tree. It's just amazing.
A beautiful forested campground. Our site had 50 amp and water connection. No complaints about it. They have kayaks and canoes available for rent to head down a little river to the lake.
Great little state park, one of our favourite places to stay in Florida. Always clean bathrooms, good laundry facilities, nice trails & mostly quiet, though it is close enough to hear a fair bit of Hwy noise, especially sirens. But sites are mostly fair sized with some kind of privacy barrier and nicely levelled. Our only worry during the busy season is that it will get booked up before we get there to enjoy it once more. Also nice and close to several good restaurants - Fruitland Park & Billy's - both only do breakfast\lunch, but we'll worth the visit.
I highly recommend taking the park boat tour through the swampy lake area... some of the cleanest water you'll find!! So interesting how the ecosystem works... Wonderful habitat for so many different birds and other wildlife... Such a cool boat trip!! Park Ranger Jeremy Sweeney was a great tour guide and Park Ranger!!
