My wife and I came by again recently. We had another great dining experience at Lagniappe while out celebrating a special occasion! The veal dish surpassed my expectations, both in taste and presentation. The veal itself was tender and bursting with flavor. My wife’s choice of filet mignon was equally impressive and perfectly cooked. A delightful culinary experience marked by great service and delicious, memorable dishes.
We sat outside, and the ambiance was great. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and split an artisan salad. They were good but need a little more seasoning. For an entree, we had pork chop with Mac and Cheese, which was okay. I had the braise du jour, and the pork was a little dry, but the kimchi and rice were good. They brought us a delicious dessert for our anniversary.
Hand cut calamari and chicken fried oysters! Outstanding sauces with both! House side salad was very fresh and the honey-based dressing was perfect. Great ambiance and our server Stella took very good care of us. Perfect pacing between the courses. Most of our table had the blackened red fish. A generous portion cooked and sauced perfectly. I had the special of ocean scallops with pork belly. It was complimented with fingerling potatoes and vegetables. Truly a special dish and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Superb flavor in all dishes ordered. The artistic freedom in plating showed talent in the kitchen. The best shrimp and grits I've had in Florida. Fried green tomatoes were excellent as was the charcuterie selections. The service was Johnny-on the spot.
Our family of 5 visited for the first time on a Tuesday evening. We had a reservation for 5:30, and we were seated immediately. We were lucky to sit in one of their booths. It was so big that we had room for the kids to spread out and have fun coloring without knocking anything over. Our server was fantastic, and I hate that I forgot her name. We were surprised to learn that they have a kids menu with typical items like chicken tenders and fries, but my kids love steak, so we planned to order from the regular menu for them. Our waitress asked the kitchen what the typical weight was for the steak frites so we would know how many portions to order for our young kids. It’s a 10-12 oz steak, so we ordered 2 for the 3 kids to share. We also ordered another side of fries, but it was truly not necessary as the portion of fries was very generous. My husband ordered a cup of the gumbo and the scallops special as his entree. It was to be served over polenta, which he loves. The scallops were perfectly cooked but lost their sear when placed on the polenta, which was very watery. My steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare as was the kids steak. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were just ok. I would come back for a steak because it was absolutely delicious but choose a different side item. I didn’t get a picture of the complementary bread as my family devoured it quickly. The kids love hush puppies so I asked to order a side of them (not a menu item). They were dry and lacking flavor, so we would just stick to their awesome bread next time.
