A great variety of birds are located here so it's perfect for photography. They are used to people so you can get closer than normal. Go around the pond if you time is limited. Alligators can sometimes be seen when it's warm, usually in the 80s. Turtles sun themselves and fish are numerous. It is a water retention area so you don't want to fish there and sometimes there is a mass fish kill. No dogs allowed and no bicycles on the boardwalk. Feed the ducks frozen peas and corn and put your plastics in the bins. Floridians care about their parks and wildlife.
Really great nature preserve in the middle of Largo. There is a paved trail, boardwalk, and observation tower. There are lots of birds, fish, and other animals to observe and a large boardwalk that let's you walk around the lake and through the woods. The only complaint I have is there are areas where you can clearly see old dudes playing golf and an errant golf ball warning. While golfers are dangerous and hillarious looking creatures, they are not the animals or scenery I look for at a preserve.
I truly enjoy the boardwalk through the woods, so peaceful. And the watchtower, in the far back is nice to sit and listen to sounds. Really helps me center.
Very nice park, though it would be better with less trash. There's a long paved trail that goes around a wooded area full of shorter boardwalk trails. There is also a lake with a boardwalk around it as well. The lake had a lot of turtles, fish, birds and even an alligator! It's a nice park for a lazy afternoon stroll, see a little wildlife and visit the butterfly garden. Great place for a picnic, with sheltered tables at the start of the trail, and even a nice bathroom. My only complaint is the amount of trash, I expect some since it is in the city, but there was A LOT.
