I am Very Happy with my window installed by Polk County Window & Door. The window was of very high quality and looks fantastic. I was very impressed by the install team who were very professional and even hung back up my blinds and sun shade back in the oval arch. I am happy to rate them with 5 stars *****
After getting quotes from a few different companies we decided to go with Polk County Window for all new windows in our 1940s block home. The crew did an amazing job and were friendly and professional. I had several windows that were difficult but they came out amazing (even the inspector was pleasantly surprised how nice they came out). My windows look amazing and we instantly noticed a difference in how cool our house was vs our old single pane windows. I highly recommend Polk County Window and Door!
Here’s a tale of two neighbors who both needed new windows.
First neighbor goes to a big-box hardware retailer who offered a sweet deal on ready made windows with installation included.
They even sent a person out to do measurements and were assured the new vinyl windows would fit nearly as well as the aluminum originals from nearly 60 years ago. A few inches here and there shouldn’t make a difference, right?
In the end, a large vinyl frame had to be put around each window to hide the the questionable (okay, downright sloppy) fit.
I decided to pass on that company and did my research. Soon discovered it was best to avoid the big-box hardware guys. Sure, they sell decent quality windows but you take pot luck when it comes to services, especially if you opt for their “all-in-one” offers of windows and installation. You might get a truly professional group or you might get a company that hires untrained temps. They often have “rotation” lists of installers and you get no guarantee as to quality.
You could buy the windows yourself and attempt to find a pro to install them. Have fun, pros like dealing with what they know.
I settled on Polk County Window and Door mainly because they had the best reviews all around. In addition, they appear to be a locally owned and managed company. Many of the others were apparent franchise operations.
Gave them a call and they came out jack quick and told the truth. Their windows are custom ordered and may take a few months. In fact, they quoted 6, but kept us in the loop. It turned out to be 5 months instead.
Fernando and his crew came out at 9:30 a.m. and were essentially finished by 1:30 p.m. That involved the removal of 3 old and cantankerous windows that had been caulked into oblivion because of leaks (they had to bring out the reciprocating saw to cut through my mess).
Windows were such a perfect fit only minimal shimming was necessary, hence no big, ugly borders (like it or not, shims will be necessary in nearly all cases since no two windows openings are the same).
And, in a final stroke of luck, the city’s code enforcement officer just happened to see their truck and pulled in (probably to check for the permit). He was sufficiently impressed with the end work, approved the permit and signed off on the completed project.
The crew finished off everything by removing all the window stickers (which, in case you didn’t know, have to remain on until after the code enforcement inspection), cleaning the windows in and out, and then cleaning up what little mess they made inside.
All things considered, excellent work and an excellent product. They only have to come out to repair a slightly damaged screen and everything is good!
Of course, you will pay extra for pro work. If you plan to stay in your residence quite a few years, spend the money now and pay for quality.
This is the BEST company to deal with for windows and doors! We had 10 windows and 3 doors installed and they did a fabulous job!
The crew were exceptional friendly and nice to have in your home. When completed, they cleaned up inside and out and even cleaned the windows for me. Not a mess anywhere! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for new doors or windows.
Right when I met Bill I felt comfortable working with him and his company. He was honest, offered a way better price than any other companies that gave me quotes, and did not pressure me at all. During installation his crew was nice and professional. They were able to install 10 windows in two days. The windows look beautiful, are installed well, and are a huge upgrade from our old aluminum windows. I could not recommend this company more. Go with these guys. It will save you money, and give you peace of mind!
