Arriving on Cumberland and walking the path to Greyfield was like walking in the footsteps of those long ago. This unadulterated barrier island is absolutely drenched in beauty from the moss covered massive Oaks, the Ruins, Plum Orchard, the eerily majestic wild horses. It definitely makes you want to uncover all of its past. The Inn itself gives you the feeling that you're not alone. That all who have entered are there alongside you as you discover a time past. The staff are a dedicated and greatly appreciated group of people that very well could have come from that time period. I am looking forward to one day returning and delving even deeper into its beauty. I am definitely awe stuck with Cumberland Island and all it has to offer.
Incredible place like no other. Truly a spot to get away from it all and enjoy nature. One of us is an outdoor enthusiast, the other not so much - but we both love this place. So much so, in fact, that we eloped here in a private ceremony that the Greyfield took care of entirely. Every, single thing was perfect. Highly, highly recommend this place.
We stayed here for three nights in the Big Cottage South room and had a wonderful experience. I had been backpacking on the island on two previous occasions and wanted to take my wife to experience the island without having to camp. We loved our room, mostly because of the big porch off of the main door. The food was excellent during our stay and we always had plenty to eat. With the tours, bikes, and kayaks, there was always something to do. Perhaps the best part of the experience was the people. From the communal meals to the hours spent into the back of a pickup truck heading out for a tour, there was plenty of time for conversation with people from all over the country.
What a wonderful place to rest, recharge and be with nature. We spent a weekend at the Inn and loved it. Totally recommend a visit. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The boat ride onto the island is very easy going and on time. The food is the best we ever tasted, kudos to the chef. The decor is very well kept to the time period of a historical inn. The attention to details is seen in the entire inn and property. Great!
"Special thanks to Elle working at the Inn and Christina who provided great tours"
