Seafood Night!!!! Fish and chips, stuffed lobster tails, and shrimp & grits. Lobster was incredible, fish was really good and huge. Shrimp and grits were ok, missing the creole taste. Friendly staff as always. We came at 5pm, the line to get a table started about 6pm.
We came to Steffan’s after a full day on Cumberland Island, so we were hungry and looking forward to a good, hearty meal.
SO glad we came! Both my friend and I commented that this was probably the best fried chicken we’d ever had. The jumbo shrimp were locally caught and lightly battered and fried. The fried mushrooms were hand battered. The collard greens were a delicious combination sweet and savory - with peppered vinegar on top, of course! And the banana cream pie - even with full bellies - was just amazing.
The crazy part? The prices! So affordable, with such quality, home cooking. And super friendly employees.
Only wish I lived closer so I could
Come back!
Absolutely fantastic little diner serving up really great food with true southern charm and hospitality. Great cup of coffee served with a smile and very nicely sized portions of true home cooked plates. Had the chicken and waffles which were perfect in every sense of the word, my bf had the 'The Benedict' a delightful version smothered in rich sausage gravy. I had to have a bite, was not disappointed! Make the time to drop in, likely a wait but with good reason!
If you're visiting Coastal Southern Georgia, this is a great place to stop. A bit off the beaten track in Kingsland, this place has been around since the 1940s. We are staying a few miles away, and prefer local rather than chain restaurants while traveling. Steffen's does not disappoint! My husband likes some southern foods that I do not, and the reverse is also true. So he he had his fried gizzards, and I had my fried green tomatoes. There are nice salads to be had, too, and they serve breakfast all day. REAL BUTTER AND HALF-N-HALF on every table. 😋 Desserts are all house made, and we took a big slice of strawberry cake back to camp where we shared it. It was delicious!
Delicious food served quickly and at a very reasonable price point. Think 1980s food prices. Most items seemed to be made from scratch. The local smoked sausage was worth the $1 extra. Very tasty. Can get busy at times but worth the wait. Will be back again!!
