Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins and Campground

This is hands-down the BEST place to stay in the Okefenokee Swamp!! We had stayed here several years ago, so we can attest to the amazing improvements made by the new owners! We stayed with our 2 year old daughter in a basic cabin for 2 wonderful nights (and we were not ready to leave when it was time :-) ).

Upon arrival we were welcomed with a sweet little welcome bag with a few waters and snacks, a map of the property, and lunch/dinner menus. We had dinner in the cute little bar/cafe area and really enjoyed our DELICIOUS meal - pork nachos and chicken philly with cold draft seasonal beer - yes please!!! There are TVs and games (corn hole, shuffleboard, boardgames) for easy entertaining, which we loved, but more than anything, we loved having a little food/bar area where we could chat with fellow campers and Charlene - the amazing chef/caretaker of the property who is a part of the local Okefenokee community going back many generations. She made us feel right at home and we loved learning about her and her family's life/history there. We were also so appreciative of the complimentary coffee in the cafe/bar area in the mornings, which was a great comfort.

Our cabins was so clean and the linens smelled so fresh. We were delighted by the little screened in porch and fire pit right outside, which we used nightly thanks to the firewood we were able to purchase from Pastimes! It is also surprisingly QUIET - we heard the squirrels, crickets, birds and breeze with no sound intrusion from other campers or cars (and no generators - hallelujah!)

The bathroom/shower area is also incredibly clean and convenient - the water pressure is great and the shower can be made very hot, if you like hot showers like me! Our daughter also loved the playground area walking around the pond on the property.

We are excited to come back and would recommend Pastimes 100000% with 5 full stars!

I loved this place! New owners have moved the cabins off the road, the dogs are gone, the cabins are super clean, beds are comfortable, staff is more than friendly! They're entertaining with their stories and knowledge of the area. You couldn't ask for a better location to explore the Okefenokee. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Entered on east entrance. Had a wonderful experience. Saw mom alligator and 7 babies. Saw the homestead and walked the boardwalk out to the tower. As we were leaving a big bobcat ran across the road in front of us. Staff at the visitor center was extremely helpful and friendly. A great place to enjoy nature, relax and great for kids.

Best place to stay for visiting Okefenokee! We stayed in a basic cabin. It was very clean. Everyone working here was friendly and helpful. We got back late from a tour and did not have time to go into town for dinner, but the campgrounds were serving BBQ and beverages. We got BBQ there, and it was DELICIOUS. Just what we needed after being in the swamp. Perfect location for those going to Okefenokee Adventures. Highly recommend.

We camped here for one night on a drive down the east coast and we had a lovely experience! The hosts were all very welcoming and friendly; check-in was easy, and as we were the only tent campers that night we got to choose our site.
We ended up at the Turkey Oak site because it was the driest, (we had a rainy day.) It was very private, with a short walk from the car to the fire circle. Plenty of room at the site and good trees for a hammock! And not too far of a walk from the dishwashing sink provided near the tent sites.
The little market and bar/restaurant area in the "clubhouse" were super convenient, our compliments to the chef! Our dinners were great. Even the other "campers" on site that night were friendly and the general atmosphere was nice. The bathrooms were well kept and clean, not too far of a walk from the campsite.
We would definitely camp here again! From reading past google reviews, it seems like this new management is doing a great job!!
