“Lyra watched lessons from 10 until her appointment at 11. She kept scooting next to me saying, "I.m scared!" She had been traumatized several years earlier by jumping in a pool assuming that she would just naturally swim. Since that time she screams even when she gets water splashed in her face, even while in the tub or shower! When Karen (her instructor) came to get her, she willingly went with her and from the moment Karen held her hand Lyra seemed to turn her will over to Karen. This was the first time since her bad experience that I have seen her smile and enjoy the water. I couldn't believe how she kept that positive attitude throughout the lesson. When finished she told me, "I did everything she told me to do! I did it! I did it!" I asked her if she had fun and she threw he little arms into the air and smiled from ear to ear saying, Yes ma'am!" I asked her if she wanted to come back and she acted like I had just told her that she was going to Disney. What a beautiful thing to watch! I am forever grateful and look forward to seeing just how far she will progress weakly. She lives in Macon but the drive will definitely be worth it.”

“As I complete my 5th year as a resident of independent living in The Palms I can say I am glad I moved here because... - The apartments are large, have a full kitchen with Whirlpool appliances and excellent room thermostat control. With three floors, 4 elevators make moving about quick and easy. - Housekeeping service every two weeks is adequate. The maintenance persons promptly keep any required repair or upkeep done asap. - Since my walking is limited to my apartment, I enjoy a scooter to get around the building. Fortunately, The Palms has a bus with a scooter lift which enables me to go shopping, out to lunch, and church. This is an important part of my life. - The grounds are kept attractive and I have bragged in the past that the large swimming pool in the courtyard is kept clean enough to drink from 12 months of the year! - I have yet to hear a dog bark. - Fellow residents are friendly and pleasant for the most part. - People comment that they never hear sounds coming from an adjacent apartment. I can recommend The Palms to anyone interested.!”
