“Lyra watched lessons from 10 until her appointment at 11. She kept scooting next to me saying, "I.m scared!" She had been traumatized several years earlier by jumping in a pool assuming that she would just naturally swim. Since that time she screams even when she gets water splashed in her face, even while in the tub or shower! When Karen (her instructor) came to get her, she willingly went with her and from the moment Karen held her hand Lyra seemed to turn her will over to Karen. This was the first time since her bad experience that I have seen her smile and enjoy the water. I couldn't believe how she kept that positive attitude throughout the lesson. When finished she told me, "I did everything she told me to do! I did it! I did it!" I asked her if she had fun and she threw he little arms into the air and smiled from ear to ear saying, Yes ma'am!" I asked her if she wanted to come back and she acted like I had just told her that she was going to Disney. What a beautiful thing to watch! I am forever grateful and look forward to seeing just how far she will progress weakly. She lives in Macon but the drive will definitely be worth it.”
