Sprayberry is one of the smaller schools in Cobb County and has little room to grow since it is land locked by Piedmont and Sandy Plains and the neighborhood in the back. Despite this, I, and my senior, have found Sprayberry to be a great school. The academics are challenging and kept my child busy in the honors and AP classes. We didn't attend any of the sporting events, simply because she wasn't interested so I can't speak much on the football, basketball, or any other sports.
I will say that most of the teachers we've encountered have been great and very caring. One draw back is trying to schedule an appointment with the counselors, but once you do bet with them they are helpful.
I have two students here currently and both love their teachers and friends. A very diverse student population and many opportunities to achieve academic and extracurricular success. Outscored magnet schools on recent milestone testing.
I went here freshman, junior and senior year. My husband also went to this school, as did his father and mother. They all had a ok experience with this school.
The teachers I had were so very amazing to me. They all are pretty nice and try hard to teach the students. The teachers are really inspiring but some students make it hard for others to learn.
Overall I did okay, I was apart of the "extra help" classes cause I have ADD and its hard for me to concentrate. The teachers try so hard and even took us into a separate room (small group classes) so we wouldn't get distracted while taking our tests. It helped out a lot with my learning.
I wouldn't mind my daughter going to this school one day. They are very informative with parents on how their students are doing. Even when I moved out of my moms house they still updated her on how I was doing. Which now I understand since I am a parent myself.
Sprayberry is a good solid school. Is it the very best in the whole are, no, but it is a good all around education and experience. If you think there aren't drugs in Walton, Pope, and Lassiter or all high schools in the area, guess again. They are everywhere. Does Sprayberry have a lot of diversity, yes, and again, that's life. When you graduate and go out into the real world, those "people of different backgrounds" are who you are going to be working around, so better learn now how to get along. If you want your kid going to Lassiter, be prepared to pay a 30% premium or more for living in that district as well, plus be prepared for your child to be around a bunch of upper class kids who are given everything and are spoiled rotten. My kids graduated from Lassiter - good school. Their friends that graduated from Sprayberry are just as successful if not more so than they are in getting jobs, earning a good wage, and being independent in their 20's. Hope this helps.
