Small school that really feels like family, all the teachers of every grade knows both of my children's names which makes my children more comfortable. They stay on the ball when it comes to my questions and concerns. After going with a charter school my kids won't go to public school
I am so thankful for Odyssey Charter School and how my child has thrived there. He was at a wonderful, well-respected, private school but it wasn't the right fit for him personally. He has stated that Odyssey is a better choice of school for him. I love that they have after school care available for all grades K-8 and teaching assistants (paraprofessionals) in all classes in grades K-5. There are many opportunities to get involved and volunteer which is important to me as a parent. Being a smaller school, I know most of the staff, and most of them know who I am. I have also met many of the other parents through PTO and school activities. Our family is very happy with our choice to transfer into Odyssey.
Things we love about Odyssey, from our experience: the atmosphere and feeling of family and community; teachers and staff know our daughter and look out for her every day-she is not just a face in a crowd of students; parents are welcome and invited to volunteer, to participate in the educational process, to have a voice; opportunity to go on educational field trips to Washington DC, Tennessee Aquarium, National Weather Service, Savannah, etc.; extremely dedicated staff and faculty; awesome family and community events; every student gets the attention they need to succeed; and much more. No school is perfect in every way and Odyssey is no exception. But in the ways that count as far as the education our child is getting, we are very pleased.
I feel that she is getting a good, quality educational experience in an environment that enables her to learn. I like the student to teacher ratio. I particularly appreciate the level of parental involvement. I never have to guess how things are going and all of her teachers at each grade level have been available when a conference is needed. I feel like the entire staff cares about the well being of my child. I feel she is not just a student, that they know her as a unique individual.
When our children were starting school, we knew we wanted to send them to a private school. We felt that they gave more individual attention to their students, and often times were more challenging academically. We heard of Odyssey from some people in the neighborhood and we decided that was where our kids would go. Four years later, we are extremely happy with our decision, they are doing amazing there! It is a truly wonderful school that is helping our kids develop and grow.
