Whereas the dealer mechanic tried to sell me on repairs worth 1.5x the trade-in value of the car itself, Catherine’s (against their best interest in terms of getting my sign off on expensive repairs) was honest with me of the costs and of the fact that these one-off largest fixes will likely keep coming for an older car. They helped walk me through the trade offs of continuing to repair the old car vs considering getting or leasing a new one, and allowed me to confidently make the best decision for myself.
