Pretty good campground. I think there are only about 6 sites, two of which are doubles. It's right next to the road, but traffic really tapers off to nothing around 9 PM. The outhouse rarely has TP because all of the river rafters that put in across the street use it before launching. The Deadwood River runs along the back of the camp and the Payette River is right across the street. Pretty fair fishing.
Definitely a great campground, we were the only ones there and it was quiet, even being close to the road, the river drowned out any noise from the road. We had our choice between this one and the one a mile further up the road, definitely glad we stayed here!
The area itself is catching up from fires some years back. However, it's right by the river. Easy family access. Very nice and clean campground.
This camp site was great! The spots are spread out pretty good! There was a water pump that shocked me! We also had bathrooms and a dumpster! The sites are clean and beautiful. The fire pit had grates you can cook on as well. We used out castiron but I'm sure once you cleaned it you can throw a good steak right on the fire! We also found a nice spot to sit in the shade right by the river it was a great experience.
Not the most secluded site on the Banks/Lowman Highway with all of the camp spots visible from the road. We stayed in order to access the trailhead at the campground (which is closed due to the Pioneer fire), but stayed once we learned from a placard at Bonneville Hot Springs that Deadwood Campground was the summer home of the Shoshone tribe for almost 1,000 years. That night we returned to our camp (we had it entirely to ourselves), sat where the Deadwood River and South Fork of the Payette merge, and thought of the many native peoples who had been here centuries before us.
