“This little amusement park is the perfect size for toddlers and great age appropriate activities for littles. I would say ages 2-7 is the sweet spot for Pirate’s Cove. They everything from a merry-go-round to paddle boats, trains, bouncy house and more. If you haven’t been, do it! It’s a super fun family activity, and they have a picnic area on the pirate ship. What’s not to love?!”

“Absolutely breathtaking. Only downside was public restrooms were closed. They did supply porto-potties. Very beautiful forest preserves! Conservation for the win!”

“This is my HAPPY PLACE! I bike, kayak hang out on Sundays grilling with my husband and have celebrated many Father’s Days there. Sadly, the nature is governed and controlled by those who run the preserves. Our first tree and picnic spot they let become overrun by weeds right off the entrance at the Main Dam off Arlington Hgts Road, saying “ it’s bad for the environment to run the mowers”. Our second tree was CANCELED because they deemed the species as unhealthy for the environment to prosper and to my devastation.. chopped it down!! I was in tears! So many memories and such a beautiful serene spot with nice shade if you need it because my husband burns … OUR TREE…GONE FOREVER 😢”

“We love it here although we're not residents. We use the pools. Great pools, incredible gym upstairs. Family lockers definitely need an upgrade it's probably in the books, looks at how well they they care about their facility, I'm sure they have plans for it already. Highly recommend the pavilion, pirate's cove! Life guards are the best i have seen around north, west suburbs. Kudos! Very very professional and helpful and polite.”

“Beautiful long (I think about 8 miles) trail for walking, jogging, biking 🚴🏼♂️ or rollerblading. Tree paths, grassy path, bridges, water. A few are near to the city and homes— so not very removed from city in some parts- other parts are immersive. Very lush. Several bathroom stops (average cleanliness - smelly). Several picnic benches, great for large groups. The Elk reserve is a cool little stop, you really need to look to find them at times. We saw 4 on our recent hike. Track your journey and pay attention to markers to avoid getting lost. Close to the mall, theatre and restaurants for dinner or other activities too.”

“The programs they offer for kids during spring break were an excellent choice for working parents. My grandson swam, played and even did some homework. He was happy to spend the day with other kids his own age playing and running around. We will do this again!”

“I did a good 15 km running here. As a tourist, it’s a safe and peaceful place to run with some bikers and runners along the way. The track was perfectly done for you to follow. No complications during the run. Enjoy the greenery and the cool air ????”

“We go here for Union meetings once a year. Usually some kind of cookout and this is a really nice place it's also very huge easy to get lost. But I'm so glad that we have a forest preserve in the lake / Cook County border area that we all can have access to it's very nice.”
