“I grew up in these fissures and cliffs before it was accessible to the general public, it took just a bit of doing to get down there. So many memories of bonfires and Black Sabbath and Little Kings cream ale on the riverfront...”

“I took a walk here in the middle of winter. It was beautiful and the path was relatively clear of fallen trees and branches. Only issue I had was that runoff water collected in parts and made for some slick conditions. I'm not sure if the park service can drop salt so close to the river, but better drainage could help. Other than that, this park has great views of the Kankakee River and connects to Perry Farm.”

“Nice park by the river. Many benches. Nice paved path plus plenty of places to clamber around off a path.”

“Cute! Took the kids there while babysitting. Someone left their Spider-Man action figure there, it's on the bench (maybe not, tho) if it's yours ???? The playground itself is rather basic, except for a huge climbing red and yellow jungle gym area and a small rock climbing wall (one plastic, a part of the main jungle gym, another an actual plastic wall near the east part of the park). Has a lovely picnic table near the fence to the south that's shaded with a structure. Has one swing for special needs children, one infant swing, and two regular child swings. There is a field nearby with a few small trees, perfect for larger activities such as Frisbee, kickball, baseball, soccer, kite-flying, and maybe even lacrosse or golf if you have the equipment (although, I don't recommend these activities too near the playground or residential area as a Frisbee or ball could go flying at a child, a passerby, or into a neighbor's window. Take caution when playing a large-scale game or aiming or facing west. Wear proper safety protection when playing anything. A tip is to face Route 45/52. Archery or any game where there is direct physical involvement or weapons should not be done here). Near the edge of Bel Aire, Route 45/52, Aurelio's Pizzaria, Arby's, The UPS Store, and other businesses. Not exactly a place for a day trip, but rather a park for a kid blowing off some steam. The only three things I have concerns about: -Near busy roads (a small intersection for the neighborhood, which tends to get a bit of traffic when people come home from work, and it's near Route 45/52) -Swing mats are torn up and will need replacing (somewhat difficult to stop swinging) -No accessible bathroom (not a huge concern, but if it's hot and your child chugs a lot of water, you'll have to go to Aurelio's, crossing a main road)”

“Not as user-friendly as the state park area to west, but a good place to access the river.”
