“I grew up playing here in the 60s and 70s. Was a day camp counselor too 1974-78. It's a beautiful as ever. My grandchildren ages 10, 12 and 14 had a great time! It's clean, well maintained, safe, and has varied places to climb, slide, swing, run, just be a kid.”

“Went there for Thursday food truck fest. It was a beautiful evening and lots of benches in the park for kids to hang out. The water body and plenty of trees makes the park a perfect place to hand out at”

“Really nice beach with sand. The small swimming area is cordoned off and is safe for kids. The only downside is that there is no shade. Bring your own umbrella on a hot sunny day.”

“Love this place. Great for observing nature (mostly birds, bugs, and wildflowers) and seeing Lake Michigan from an unusual angle for Chicagoland. Dog friendly and a favorite destination of my pups. Not sure how accessible the actual beach is for differently abled people.”

“A beautiful expanse of area with wide paths to wander on. The lake is also beautiful but as it's winter time now, the winds from are lake is cold. The informational boards share history and also warn you as to why you shouldn't be swimming in the lake this close to the fort.”

“Beautiful Openlands Lakeshore Preserve! Where else can you find poetry, art, and murals while hiking along a ravine that leads to Lake Michigan?! Do want to mention that the preserve is a work in progress (IMO). Mother Nature has taken her toll, and the Openlands are doing a fantastic job restoring this beautiful place. I would say that it's not done...yet. What is "done" is beautiful so I focus on those aspects. It's worth the extra effort to find the preserve and enjoy it's natural beauty.”

“Awesome place for outdoor concerts. Cool atmosphere and you can bring food, drinks (including alcohol), tables/chairs and more. You can also rent chairs and tables for cheap. Metra stop is very busy when the concert ends so be wary you might not get a seat.”
