“Tucked away in the serene landscape of southern Indiana, Blue River Valley Farm stands as an idyllic sanctuary, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle of everyday life. Owned by former Indiana Senator Richard Young and his wife, Dr. Ashira Young, the 120-acre property provided a picturesque setting for our solar eclipse excursion. During our stay at Blue River Valley Farm, we experienced a level of hospitality that went beyond our expectations. In a time when many properties took advantage of a rare celestial event to inflate prices, the Youngs showed commendable integrity by maintaining their modest daily rate. This thoughtful decision provided us with exceptional value, ensuring that our solar eclipse adventure was not overshadowed by financial strain. The owners' generosity was further highlighted by the delightful touch of leaving us a supply of fresh eggs from their chickens. This simple, yet deeply appreciated gesture added to the charm of our rural retreat and connected us to the rhythms of farm life. There's something profoundly satisfying about cooking with ingredients that come straight from the land you're staying on, and those eggs were a symbol of the farm's bounty and the Youngs' kindness. Their efforts to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay extended to accommodating modern necessities, as evidenced by their willingness to let us charge our electric vehicle—a gesture of both convenience and eco-consciousness that did not go unnoticed. The farmhouse itself exuded a rustic charm, beautifully adorned and meticulously equipped to cater to the needs of any guest. Every detail seemed thoughtfully considered, from the ample supply of firewood for the cozy fireplace or outdoor firepit to the fully equipped kitchen, ready for family meals. The hot tub beckoned for relaxation under the stars, while the walking trails invited exploration of the expansive property. Sleeping arrangements were generous, with two bedrooms and an additional daybed ensuring that the whole family could comfortably stay together. It was evident that this was a place designed for connection and togetherness. The absence of internet connectivity could be seen as a drawback in some settings, but for us, it was a hidden blessing. It encouraged a true disconnection from digital distractions, allowing us to engage more fully with each other and our surroundings. This unplugged experience seemed to enhance our stay, fostering deeper connections and immersion in the natural beauty around us. The farm's remote location, bordered by a river, opened up a world of activity. From finding fossils riverside—a uniquely thrilling experience—to watching the dogs revel in the joys of farm life, there was no shortage of ways to enjoy the great outdoors. For those seeking simplicity, tranquility, and beauty, Blue River Valley Farm offers a respite that resonates with the soul. It is a testament to the allure of rural life and the timeless appeal of nature's embrace. Whether it's for a special event like the eclipse or a much-needed getaway, this farm is a destination that promises a return to the essentials and the joy of life's simpler pleasures. In an era where commercialism often takes precedence, finding a haven like Blue River Valley Farm, where the priorities are hospitality and the guest experience, is truly refreshing.”

“The team here have helped me out twice. Once when the basement in my garage was flooded (drain line to air got clogged and water couldn't leave) and to do a service on my central A/C unit. Both times they came out, were incredibly knowledgeable, and fair. They answered all my questions and even explained what they were doing (I'm an engineer!). They never try to upsell. They're my go to plumbers now, it also helps their local and not owned by a megacorp out to make as much cash as possible. A++!”

“In addition to their website you can also book through the HipCamp app as well. Google Maps puts you right at the campground but it's in a beautiful setting overlooking the Blue River. It has some wonderful hosts (Matt & Angela) and I hope to go back again!”
