Chupp´s Piano Service is a beautiful facility/operation all the way around. Everything Tip-Top. Very experienced and dedicated staff. Was reluctant to travel so far to look at instruments but realized during my first visit that they were serious people operating at the highest level who understood what I wanted. Although I was really interested in purchasing a D, there must have been over 20 restored Steinways in their showroom and I played everything just to check overall consistancy in preparation across all models. After 3 visits I selected a completely restored 1931 New York D from 5 available Ds, all of which were excellant. I thought that the 1931 piano would fit me and the room best of all. The piano was delivered 2 weeks later including new Steinway legs with concert casters and is truly my dream instrument. Many Thanks to the Chupp´s Team for everything!
It is scary to entrust a family heirloom, especially a Steinway built in 1899, to be restored. Chupp’s was very patient with me, as I checked references and asked lots of poignant questions. As a professional pianist, I wanted a great instrument that could be used, not a show piece. Chupp’s far exceeded my expectations. The finish was restored to its original mahogany, which is stunning. More importantly, the instrument itself was restored to play and sound like it did when it was first built in 1899. It is a joy to play. They even provided documentation for insurance coverage. I highly recommend Chupp’s, if you have a Steinway that needs restoration. Here are photos of the finished product.
I had my 1927 Steinway Model M fully restored by Chupp's Piano Service. I had done tons of research to find the right company to do the restoration. The movers just delivered my piano this morning and i'm blown away. The quality is unreal. I went over the whole piano with a flashlight and couldn't find flaws. I'm beyond happy with my decision to use Chupp's. Excited to have my baby back home.
This is the Steinway piano heaven at the heart of the Midwest. I have never seen a finer showroom in America, full of pianos of astonishing quality and range. The rebuilds are of such precise craftsmanship, yet each instrument takes on a life of its own. Dennis Chupp—who has an incredible and international reputation for his work—and his dedicated team turn out the finest pianos I have ever played. Dennis and his son Tim happily engage in lengthy chats about all aspects of their work, and are generous in allowing the exploration of their showroom. They don’t push their customers; their pianos calmly speak for themselves. This place is a unique treasure—I try to pass through as often as I can, and recommend this as the very first place to look for Steinway and other rare instruments.
What a delightful experience it was to come and see your pianos. We had scoured our area (Little Rock) in search of the perfect piano for me, but were left disappointed. We then hit the road. We ended up in Elkhart IN, visited several stores, and saved the best for last. Dennis gave me free rein to play whatever piano I wanted. No pressure, no time frame. While I'm not a professional, I was picky, and I was not going to just "settle". After playing several pianos over several days, I knew when I first sat down at this Steinway...it was the one. The touch, the tone, the feel...let's just say the stars aligned. I had high hopes of finding one with these particular legs also. It was delivered exactly when stated, and the delivery went perfectly...very professional, very friendly.
Thank you so much Dennis for this beautiful piano. I hope to enjoy it for many years to come, and then pass it down to our oldest son who is an amazing pianist.
