  Easy location off of I 65 and or route 30 in Merriville Indiana. If you enjoy Mexican atmosphere or that Mexican style Cantina you’ll love this place. The food is top-of-the-line, the bartenders know what they’re doing when it comes to making a good cocktail . It’s one of those places that I would recommend to any of my friends.   We have stopped here 3 times for dinner after monthly shopping trips...Alot of retail options in close proximity...much better pricing than in Chicago or even the burbs. Gas at Costco is routinely $1.50 less than Lincoln Park area...so, that alone covers the trip south.
  
  The Restaurant is well rated and we decided to give it a try. It is in a strip center that has a traffic light, so access is easy from the very busy 6 lane highway. They are always very busy at dinner time, and we have twice waited 15 to 20 min for seating.
  
  The Menu is extensive. The staff are polite and very busy, yet check back often. There is a separate bar, which is also usually full of people eating. The atmosphere is authentic and cute. We often see large family groups eating in the center of the restaurant.
  
  The chips, salsa and guacamole are all made fresh. The food is fresh and tasty. They use fresh Jumbo Shrimp in the Shrimp Tacos. Everything that we have tried had been very good.
  
  It is extremely loud and hard to hold a conversation. Everything is very tight trying to weave between tables to reach the restroom or cashier. Go for the food, but don't expect a relaxing or romantic dining experience.

  Everything about La Carreta is great. The atmosphere, the staff, the drinks and especially the food. Been a mainstay in the area for awhile now. Well worth the stop for drinks and some excellent Mexican food.

  I’ve eaten at a ton of Mexican restaurants before but this is my favorite of all. By a long shot.
  
  The decor when you walk in is themed so well. It’s cozy and fun and just full of class.
  
  The servers (most have been here since the opening like Benito) are amazing. All of them. Great service. Friendly and reliable.
  
  The food - WOW - there really isn’t a bad thing on the menu. But beware the portion sizes are larger than you think. I’ve had their fajitas before and a ton of their chicken dishes (all are fabulous) but this time I went for the tostada dinner.
  
  The chicken tostada was phenomenal. I don’t know how they season that chicken but it was amazing. The toppings are piled high. It’s hard to pickup. Had to start with my fork. And you’ll need plenty of napkins.
  
  The prices are decent and the variety is good because you can find something for everyone here. Highly recommend this place. You may have leftovers. Enjoy!!!
