Cottonwood is a No frills camping location providing a basic tent or RV location for weekend plans in the area. This is a Budget freindly option when you have more important things to focus on. “A great place to visit to get away! We came for a weekday getaway in a cabin, and it was fabulous. Cabin 18 was well secluded with only one cabin nearby (about 75 yards away). It was a 2 minute walk to a nice little playground, perfect for our 4.5 year old! Beautiful hikes, a neat little school house to visit (lots of programs if you go on the weekend!). Our stay was quite due to the time of year and being the weekday. We didn't try any water features (other than beautiful views during the hikes! But they have a beach, canoeing and kayaking, and great set up foe fishing, either by boat (easy access boat ramps) or piers. Lots of little places to host a family gathering. Would highly recommend!”

“Camelot Ridge Resort provides a great hunting trip for hunters and their families. They have comfortable well-appointed lodging, fantastic food, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. The deer in the preserve are spectacular and there are many ways to keep a family entertained and out in nature together. I became aware of Doug McCombs Camelot Ridge Resort while watching a Ted Nugent hunting video on TV. Ted’s producer and sales manager for Camelot Ridge is none other than Dave Watson. I looked up the website and called Dave for more information. Following this Dave and I set up a vacation package for me, my wife Pauline and our daughter, Liz, her husband Matt and their twin 8 year old sons with Liz and I hunting. Dave was very accommodating. The Non-hunting members of the party had wonderful accommodations in the lodge including two separate lounge areas, an audio/visual room, game rooms, etc., all adorned with Doug’s many trophies and various collections of boat motors, hunting bows, duck stamps, etc. Doug even took the twins fishing one afternoon. All of the staff did a superb and friendly job taking care of us and are committed to providing everything the guests wanted. The hunt turned out to be rather difficult, as for some reason the deer were just not moving. Maybe because it had turned very cold? I’ve been on several “unsuccessful” hunts in the past and they are not very “restful”. In this case since Doug’s policy is no kill/no pay I found myself very relaxed as we went into the last day of hunting. After an unsuccessful hunt on the morning of the third and final day Doug decided to abandon the heated blinds and do spot and stalk. This proved successful and both my daughter and I got beautiful bucks that afternoon. The size and quality of the deer hunting is beyond imagination with excellent and very helpful guides, blinds, food plots, etc. We highly recommend Camelot Ridge as an ideal family vacation spot which caters to a wide range of interests, albeit somewhat unique. A hunt like this is not inexpensive but when you consider you can drive to it from many locations in the East, saving significant airline cost and hassle. Plus in-field and butchering costs were included. Also, the ability to take the raw trophy and meat home avoided significant shipping cost.”

“This is a great place to visit. Hiking trails, fishing, camping and parks for kids to play. I always enjoyed going here walking the trails and fiahing here. I fished from the banks. Great crappie fishing on the channel in the spring. I fished here alot out of my kayak and a boat. Caught my biggest bass so far from here. I rode my mountain bike through the trails all the way around the lake alot of times. They also have 2 beaches here for swimming. They also rent kayaks at the campground. They have picnic shelters also. Just an all around wonderful place for anyone who loves the outdoors.”

“Nice little park next to Sylvan Lake. Has some older playground equipment and a nice long walkway down by the water. It goes clear over to the boat ramp and you can even go right up to Sundaes on Sylvan from there! Also has basketball courts, but they might not be available as the court doubles as the parking lot.”

“I only came here to play disc golf but overall it looked like a very nice park. It had a basketball court, playground, splash pad, a nice walking trail all the way around, baseball fields, and lots of open room. The course was also very fun. A good mix of technical holes with some longer open ones as well. Kudos to the course designer for using Mandos well. Definitely made the course more interesting, challenging, and fun. The picture is of hole 18. Probably can't see it but the hanging basket is an awesome way to end the course”

“9/3/22 - 9/11/22 Our camping experience was one of the best thus far. The facilities are kept in top shape, the site is perfectly level and the views are magnificent. The campsite is super secure and even has Sheriff Department presence on site over the weekends and holidays.
