“I wanted to share our experience with Chesterton Montessori School during the 2017/18 school year. We took a tour of the facility during an open house last summer and learned that the school was beginning a Monday thru Friday Full Day Early Childhood Program – just what we were looking for - we were able to combine daycare with the Montessori program. We are so thankful that our daughter Megan spent her last year of pre-K at Chesterton Montessori. I can’t say enough about the program and the teachers. Meg is ready for kindergarten! At the end of Megan’s first day at Montessori, she climbed in the car and exclaimed “The teachers are so nice here!” – good sign for any working parent needing to use preschool/daycare! Montessori made it easy on us parents for pick up and drop off – using a car line system - so that I didn’t even have to leave my car. A staff member comes to the car as we pull up to the door and escorts Megan to and from the school – awesome after years of varying hassle with pick up and drop off at local daycares. Hourly after school care is available – we didn’t actually need the after school hours but Meg asked to stay so often that we finally allowed her 2 hours once a week after school in the All Day Room to play with her friends. We also added the weekly after school Kindermusik – which she definitely enjoyed. We have a limit of no more than 2 after school activities at a time for each of our kids (I’m actually thinking of cutting it down to one…lol) and having Kindermusik available at the school made this activity a no-brainer for us. Kudos to Mrs. Christensen for working with us for flexibility in picking up Megan due to having another car pool at the same time for our 10 year old. I appreciate the communication style of the Montessori teachers. An example from their study unit on continents – Megan’s class wanted field trips to each of continents as they studied them. I loved the story from Mrs. Cavallo & Mrs. Gumz of Megan asking if the class could take a field trip to Africa – Mrs. Cavallo’s answer to Megan described in lengthy detail the travels it would take to get to Africa with a class of preschoolers. By the end of the detail, Megan understood and finally said “So, I’m thinking it’s a no”:). Tuition was divided into monthly payments. I found the bookkeeping system to be entirely accurate – however old-fashioned with a separate paper receipt for each month. I understand that electronic payment options are coming which will definitely be an upgrade. We used our Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account to pay for some of the tuition – thankfully Mrs. Cavallo, Administrator & Education Director, signed my single claim form to simplify the reimbursement process. I would recommend taking administrative questions to Mrs. Cavallo directly in person, through email, or by phone. She knows the school policies and procedures better than anyone! Overall, this program for the 5 day - full day early childhood is awesome in every way! Definitely a great fit for our daughter. I hope our experience may help other parents who are spending their time and energy to tour and research preschools / childcare for their child!”

“I love my church! We have many ministries that reach out to folks of all ages and backgrounds. While growing up here, I have participated in the many youth ministries of our church, including the Master Clubs program, Christian school, summer camp, bus routes, Sunday school classes, and the teen group. We hear preaching and teaching from God's Word each week and learn how to have a personal walk with Christ. We minister to the preschoolers in Little Lambs all the way up to the elderly in Jolly Sixties. Our church loves people...we pray for each other, we help each other, and we love each other! We love visitors too and hope you come join us soon. We are excited about God's work here and want to serve Him faithfully!”

“So im in fifth grade of discovery, and its pretty good, as a lot of reviews say, there is some bullying, but this is not always true, there are certain kids that mess around more aggressively, but are not bullying, simply playing or hanging out with kids differently. The food isnt absolutley terrible, but it isnt the best, but ive had way way worse. I agree that the vice principal has more power than he should( Mr. Martinez) but idk why soooo... Anyway, over all I LOVE the school, it has a very nice enviornment to it, it has a nature playground, and it lets classes go on hikes and do nature activities, which are pretty fun. The teachers are pretty nice, unless you make them really angry. Ig anyone gets hurt, its not like nobody cares like others say, they just arent like instantly around the kid with a friggin medical helicopter and 18 nurses suddenly, but they do whatever they really can, which isnt that much, but nurse burt is pretty nice and handles everything properly, and isn’t insanely crazy with bandages like a lot of schools. If you want to enroll your child, see what grade they woyld be in which should already be known, and just enroll them and they might get picked to get in from a list or something idk Bur overall, it is such an amazing school. I walk there since I live really close, so do some of my neighbors, and theyre pretty cool with all of it. Theyre kind of a layed back nature themed school that cares about nature and kids. I highly reccomend this school for anyone who can make it into the school. - A random 5th Grade Student that goes here that loves it.”

“Great school and from my experience, Field Station teachers go above and beyond then that of what traditional preschool teachers are capable of. This school does a fantastic job of learning thru art, song and outdoor activity vs traditional class time and recess way of learning. My daughters personality was transformed this past school year and I am grateful for the teachers and this learning faculty. A typical day includes hiking and scavenging for art supplies that will be used as art projects later that day, while reinforcing class time learnings. I have posted a few of my five year olds art projects that were made during the year. Further, having attended a local preschool last year my daughter was sick far less while attending Field Station. I believe the focus on washing hands throughout the day is a big part of why. Last but not least, my daughter was fully prepared for the next step in her educational journey. When we signed up for Kindergarten she passed her assessment with flying colors. We wanted to send her to a summer learning camp at this public school here in Portage but was denied because she didn’t need the help. So I signed her up for a summer camp back at Field Station. In conclusion this school is top notch. Sign up early or you might have to settle for less on your child’s educational experience.”

“I have been taking my 3 year old here since he was 3 months old. I absolutely love the care he receives. He's excited to go to "school" every day & loves his teachers. They keep me updated on everything that goes on. The app they offer is awesome so I know when he slept, what he ate, & his activities for the day. I adore the teachers & the patience they have with the children. Everything Angie told us in our tour has been exactly how things have happened. I highly recommend this daycare!!”
