“Amazing place! But DO NOT do what we did and follow the REI guide into the trail directly off the parking lot. That is not the path you’re looking for... You must walk back out of the lot the way you drove in! It was a beautiful hike. When we got to the water there were a lot of boats there, so it felt less secluded and like less of a reward, but nonetheless was very welcomed. Taking a dip after a hot hike was perfect. The sand was HOT. Be prepared.”

“Dropped off my bike with Curly's Inc after a lay over. Curly and Lisa were a huge help from start to finish from talking directly to the insurance company to looking for options with replacement parts that would work when factory parts were not available. Although this wasn't the biggest project on the table for Curlys I never got the sense that it was any less important.”

“I work down the street from this park it looks like a pretty big Mobile Home Park always cars going in and out it looks like they try and keep up with it and make it look nice although like many of the people say they could do some road work in there. The people I see in my store from here are usually pretty nice and easy-going to.”

“Ronald J. Janus from Port Vue, Pa., a Clariton High School Graduate, my grandfather began this family business with his wife Dorothy and the Shadyside Mobile Home park it resides in. Papa left Pa. to begin his own family and business legacy here in Burns Harbor with these 2 businesses and Dorothy’s hair salon “Hairworks” in Hobart, In. His children from a young age, were answering phones and learning orders from the family home, his brother Paul Janus and all my cousins worked for papa, just as his family tradition had instilled in him when they came to the USA in 1908 from Slovakia. He was driven to treat his customers as his own family even when it meant putting his family to the grind- working longer hours and traveling far distances. He was bold and gave customer the bones of truth on their matters. Many customers I’m sure remember him for his loud vigor, and large jolliness! He employed many low income folks who often did not have a chance elsewhere and trained them to become more educated in a professional field. Leanne Perrine has been a long time devoted employee for my grandparents and was like family to us along with her husband Mike. She has worked many long hours in the office alongside my grama who did the books while Leanne tirelessly processed customer orders, routed calls and aimed to satisfy their requests. Since my grandparents have passed, she and her family purchased our family business (I was only a child and now in much dismay our family didn’t carry on the legacy papa worked so hard to build for his family). None-the-less, I have hoped to see her carry the legacy on in the same hard driven work fashion my grandparents had with their customers. Best wishes for the future of my papa’s legacy!”
