An excellent little museum that shows the history of steamboats on the Ohio River and the history of the first Swiss settlement in the United States. The lady at the front desk was amazingly helpful in helping me find the burial place of my family and extended family. The gift shop is amazingly inexpensive. And the people in general are fantastic.
I did not have time to see the entire collection but did have a short tour led by the museum director. Learned about the "Hay King" of Switzerland County and his network of 200 hay barns. Also saw a working model of his patented hay press, which looked like a precursor of today's hay balers. Definitely worth a longer visit.
Low key informational objects for living in the river. Laid back and enjoyable
Great history and free of charge. The employee showed us both museums personally! Theres great exhibits of model boat, cant take pictures of. Really nice tourism facility there as well!
Peggy was absolutely delightful and so giving of her time and energy in our explorations of the museum. Museum exhibits are very accessible and interesting. Loads of local history and character!
