“We'll update photos of over 30 display cases and exhibits in the Great Plains Wing's Museum - during the next few months. We'll be sharing our heroes, allies and enemies; aircraft (like the B-17 Flying Fortress and P-51 Mustangs), great battles, maps, medals, models, many Uniforms, and the Way things Work. Great Art and artifacts, blueprints; Lessons in Science, Technology (know what plane put computers to work for the first time?), Engineering, and easy applications of Math are everywhere in our Hangar & Museum. There's important History, and vital facts about the way things have changed - we helped save millions of lives in China and Russia, and those former allies, communist nations have become our most threatening enemies. Yet our greatest enemies 80 years ago, Germany and Japan that we defeated in WW2, then rebuilt, they are now friends and allies!! If you want to learn from History, this is a great place to find answers.f PROS working on an Aeronca Champ, and ERCO Ercoupe. ***Limited Time OFFER*** 1st posted 12/30/2022 - Nice 11 x 17" POSTER of the P-51D Mustang GUNFIGHTER is FREE -while our supply lasts, again please pardon the inconvenience while we finish REPAINTING the Pacific Theater Ops ROOM, then projects move forward!”

Dodge House-Historic General

Address: 605 S 3rd St, Council Bluffs, IA 51503, USA

Museum

“Beautiful house! The architectural details are amazing - everything has some kind of decoration to it. There are actually two houses, and the tour begins at the first. Both were beautiful and the staff was great. We went on a super hot day, so both houses were warm. Not terrible, but if someone is super heat sensitive maybe wait until it is cooler. The public bathrooms are the actual bathrooms in the houses, so that was neat. Not very wheelchair accessible, but there's no way to make it be without ruining the historic structure. Price was pretty average, though for a large group it might add up fast. There is also a lot of history to see, along with the beautiful house, and of course it ties into the railroad and the squirel cage jail.”

“You get to learn about the Bertrand was launched in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1864. At 161 feet (49 m) long, with a beam of 32 feet (9.8 m); its burden total 251 tons. A shallow-draft vessel, it drew only 18 inches (46 cm) when light, and perhaps no more than twice that when loaded. Ownership of the Bertrand differ, but it probably belonged to the Montana and Idaho Transportation Line, based in St. Louis, Missouri. The firm was owned in part by John J. Roe of St. Louis. On April 1, 1865, under the command of Captain James Yore, the steamboat struck a submerged log in the Desoto Bend of the Missouri River, about 25 miles (40 km) upstream from Omaha, Nebraska. In less than ten minutes, it sank in 12 feet (3.7 m) of water. No people died, the estimated value of vessel and entire cargo was lost combined was $100,000.”
