First time visiting, I'll definitely be back, had the prime steak and it was cooked exactly as ordered, flavorful, tender and properly portioned. The appetizer of roasted brussel sprouts was actually very good (assuming you like them at all of course) and the limeade was great. The owner was friendly and attentive. I like out of the way unique places but of course they have to be good, this checked all the boxes for sure.
What a find! Thought this would be typical bar food but found much more. They have burgers but the bison burger is recommended. Moist, well seasoned, cooked perfectly until just a little pink inside. A burger that may need a knife and fork it’s so juicy. They have a fabulously affordable “ballpark” steak that is a prime cut of beef. Again, cooked perfectly to medium rare and seasoned adequately with salt (surprisingly unusual to get good seasoning on a steak). Don’t miss the steak fries. My dinner partner and I debated whether they were baked or fried. Whatever the method they are deliciously tender inside and delightfully crunchy outside. Yes they have IPA beer! But I found a winner in the red ale on tap which is locally made. If you are within 30 minutes, even 60 minutes, of this place, make sure you stop. PS — Charming hand written menu.
Had Sunday lunch. Great food. Only had the bar keep and cook today, so he verbalized our options of a local bison burger, cheese burger, sliders or steak. Only side was like these deep flash fried steak fries. Really great!
We really enjoyed our meals here. Our waitress was excellent, the food was amazing. The bison burger that I had was perfectly cooked, my wife also said that the rueben was great. We both had the sweet potato fries, they were very good. We would highly recommend Ad Astra to anyone looking for a great meal in a small town atmosphere. We will return next time we are in the area.
